Kilclooney Dolmen

This is Kilclooney Dolmen portal tomb in County Donegal, Ireland.
These monuments are sometimes called Diarmuid and Grania's bed. Diarmuid was a man that no woman could resist. Grania fell in love with Diarmuid at a party for her betrothal to someone else and they ran away. While being pursued by an army, they made their bed on cold stone and so these stone monuments came to be called Diarmuid and Grania's bed. In fact, this one was built thousands of years before Diarmuid and Grania were born. It was built before the pyramids in Egypt.

A dolmen (also known as cromlech, anta, Hünengrab, Hunebed, Goindol, quoit, and portal dolmen) is a type of single-chamber megalithic tomb, usually consisting of three or more upright stones supporting a large flat horizontal capstone (table). Most date from the early Neolithic period (4000 to 3000 BC). Dolmens were usually covered with earth or smaller stones to form a barrow, though in many cases that covering has weathered away, leaving only the stone "skeleton" of the burial mound intact.

Good POV Piotr.
The bright blue sky makes a wonderful background for the Dolmen.
The composition is good with just a hint of the bg landscape.The colours in the grass and stones are beautifully lit by the sunshine.

What a great landmark this is. That top rock must have taken a lot of men to lift it up there.
