|AliShan is a famous Mountain in central Taiwan where it is a tradition to climb to the top and watch the sun come up from behind a mountain range. This is actually a mock-up of this area, including the sunrise, as a kind of invitation to visit the real place. It is part of an interesting display at Taipei's new Airport.|
Alishan (Ali Mountain) is the most famous scenic spot which is formed by Dawu Mountain range, Jian Mountain, Zhu Mountain and Ta Mountain.
There is a beautiful sun observation tower on the terrace of the famous Zhu Mountain peak of Alishan. At the crack of dawn, if you ascend the tower in the midst of freshness of air, you can see the grey outline of Yu Mountain far away would suddenly be edged with golden glow when radiance, increases all of a sudden. At the very moment, the sun as if jumps out off the top of Yu Mountain, shining with boundless radiance to all sides, myriads of golden rays burst one after another from blue mountain and verdant valley, a scene majestic in all its variety.
Alishan possesses rich forestry resources, with tropical, subtropical, temperate, and frigid-zone forests all in the same scenic area. The most precious of these resources are stands of old-growth cypress trees. Mid-March to Mid-April is the Alishan flower season, when whole mountainsides are decorated in the rich colors of several species of cherry blossoms. On Linyin Trail, where the tips of ancient trees pierce the heavens, in addition to basking in the healthful atmosphere you can enjoy the delightful melodies of babblers, orioles, tits, and thrushes. (Alishan is listed as one of Taiwan's 10 top bird-watching venues, especially for mid-elevation types of birds.) Among the attractions of the area are the trunks of thousand-year-old trees that were felled long ago, and there is also a plethora of scenic spots, such as Sisters Pond, that must not be missed.
After you enjoy the beauties of nature in the Alishan National Scenic Area you can go on the Fenqihu, which is known primarily for natural scenery such as gushing waterfalls and clear streams, odd stones and strange trees, all exhibiting the features of the primeval wilderness and making you feel like a fearless explorer of the forests. Fenqihu also produces mountain vegetables, bamboo shoots, and other wild delicacies that beg you to try them.

Very nice, best composition.
An interesting set-up, don't expect to find something like this in airports!
Your capture is well composed and with good colours, but with a few grains too much in my taste... Some noise reduction may be wise?

Hi Murray...Very nice, fantastic detalis, very interesting and well presented. George
I have to say that Alishan is really a nice place to visit! You go up the mountain in winding roads cut out from the gorges w/ big concave mirrors at the turning roads for safety. It actually snows at the top of this mountain. That was the first shock of coldness for me when I went there in 2002. This pic was actually taken from there.
Trees w/ girth as big as houses and 3-generations trees on top of each other plus the sacred tree where you can visit via a very old coal rail that is still operational but only for tourism purposes only. I miss Taiwan! :)
