It is unnecessary to point out that no-one should try to cross the arch of Durdle Door. The cliff jumping shown in the picture is clearly not a safe activity, especially since there are submerged rocks at shallow depth in places. Particularly, do not try to climb any chalk cliffs in the Lulworth area (note that a rescue was taking place not far away while the right photograph was being taken). Most chalk cliffs are obviously impossible. But even in the few places where the slope is more moderate, chalk and grass has insufficient strength to hold you and sooner or later will come away in your hand. Grass on chalk cliffs is no guarantee of safety and can be very slippery, especially when wet. I know from some personal experience that chalk cliffs should not be climbed.
