|OK , it is more or less the same trip as before.(^_^). But with a twist. I opted for alternative stops and POVs along our way. For example I opted for a fast transit to La Pocatiere since we left later on Friday as we both worked in the morning. I also took parallel roads along the coast line whenever it was possible.|
Day 1 :
Left home at lunch time . Highway 40 to Quebec City . Crossed the Pierre Laporte Bridge at Quebec City and Headed NE on Highway 20 until La Pocatière . From there , we took a parallel road , Highway 230 until Rivière-du-Loup. We stopped underway for a picnic between SaintPacôme and Saint-Pascal for a quick bite. We stopped again in Riviere-du-Loup to enjoy the sunset over the mountains of Charlevoix. After we headed straight to our destination following highway 132 to Bic( Rimouski )where we stayed at Auberge du Mange-Grenouille . Let me tell you , there is two kind of people in Quebec. The ones who know the place and returns to it time after time ( like us ), and the ones who will ear from friends and family who visited the place, and will eventually be part of the first group (LOL !)
Day 2. Left after breakfast and took Highway 132. Small detours inland between Les Boules ( The Balls.... (^_^)) and Baie-des-Sables. We headed basically straight to Grande-Vallée after as we were expected for dinner. We had to check in , and refresh ourselves before at our Hotel . We had a memorable dinner with our friends once again! TL was of course among our numerous subjects on the table(^_^).
Day 3. We agreed to leave early. We had Breakfast at Annie's House, and left at 07h00 AM . Ghislain drove all the way to Percé . Two hours were required to make the distance , actually almost non-stop, except for taking gas in Gaspé. It was a good idea, as I would not have made it in less than 3 or 4 hours with my habit to stop everywhere along the road (*_^). We stopped at the entrance of the Village for a few snaps before going to the Park and buy our tickets for the excursion to the Bonaventure Island . This Introductory photo , showing the silhouette of Percé Rock testify we had a beautiful day . Both are part of the National park .
We left at 11:00 and returned with the last boat at 17h00. came back honestly all exhausted, and hungry (^_^). So we enjoyed a nice dinner on the boardwalk, before hitting the road back to Grande-Vallée in darkness. Sweet dreams on arrival at Motel Grande-Vallée-des-Monts.
Day 4 : Grande-Vallée to Sainte-Luce-sur-mer
A stop for warm hugs before hitting the road South Westerly. Note this morning was extremely fresh and windy. I made a few detours around Madeleine, Gros-Morne, Cap Chat, and finally between Métis Beach to Mont-Joli, I passed inland on a parallel panoramic road. Our friends at La maison des Gallants were expecting us. Once again , all rooms were rented. Visitors from France ( Alsace and Provence )were occupying the other rooms. It was a pleasure to meet them.
Day 5 : Sainte-Luce-sur-Mer to home at Trois-Rivieres.
Well it was time to pack our car , with our second order at the Workshop ( Au Grain de Bois )and in Rimouski shopping Mall ( we visited after dinner when we passed Friday evening ). Car loaded, we headed through the direct route. Martine asked me to make it more rapidly. Since I can not refuse her anything , I obliged. The day was very cloudy and since passed on the Expressway, I did not want to stop. We arrived at home for dinner. A bit tired with this long non-stop stretch but happy and our hearts still all pumping of pleasure after so many happy meetings.
Hope you will enjoy the ride with us. Thanks once again for our hosts and to all personnel at the various Inns we visited.
