Yes the tradition with plucking daisies to know your future exists in English also.It went something like,"He loves me,he loves me not,he..." until the last petal gave you the answer.
Then,according to what I remember, you placed all the seeds from the center onto the back of one hand and whacked that hand with the other from underneath to send the seeds flying.The number of seeds that fell back on your hand indicated the number of children you would have.
And given the fact that this woman had three children, I doubt if she would have made a good nun ....although I sometimes think she is a saint :-) |
