We had to read his books at school but after visiting his house in Samoa I am going to read them again. His wife was from California and he had all the wood shipped out from California to build the house - it made her feel at home plus it was resistant to the local woodworm.
The lady giving the tour nearly had everyone in tears such was the emotion she displayed in telling us the story of his life.
