New tech feature will limit post edit time | JuCo (0) | :: | 2008-10-31 15:54 |
We will be implementing a tech feature in the near future, that will lock posts in Critiques and Comments 15 minutes after posting. When you post Critiques and Comments on photos, you will have 15 minutes to change what you've written before the posting is locked. This is to prevent abuse of the system.
This won't affect the amount of time you have to compose your post...take as long as you like! |

Sounds good.
I have experienced said abuse myself where my own post ended up out of context because the original was changed.
Could this be implemented in the forums too? Sometime I've wanted to add something to a post just after clicking post message. I would nice if we could edit instead of having to reply to our own posts.
Thanks,
Jens |

Hi Justine,
That's great news. This will prevent the point traders from mentioning points later or points tomorrow!
Thanks for the notice!
I think this is a very good change!

Then after the point to give close please.
Criticizes 20 after the den criticizes is not to write.
Point when they close.My idea.

You should be able to count to 20, H.Ayhan.
You get 20 critiques to award points.
Quit writing them after you reach 20.
If you can't do that, to me, that shows where your focus is.
Do you write the critiques for the points or to give useful advice on other members photos? |

Can I ask what the intended outcome of this new restriction is? The phrase "abuse of the system" seems to cover a multitude of sins, and I'm unsure as to which sins this will do away with. On the face of things this is quite a draconian change and having a professional interest in web based transactional systems it seems to fly in the face a little of perceived trends in making web based activities more flexible and to allow for a wide range of individuals abilities and skills. |

Now that's a VERY positive feature, I 'usually' try to get it right before the post button but then when I look at it the second time at times, I wished I'd said/did it a different way. I didn't like 'using up' a daily smiley to re-edit. I still wish we could have 'delete' key, however, for our own posts only.
How do you figure that this 'prevents' abuse? It wouldn't allow the removal of something that might not be appropos? Or can we get a mod to do it? |

Abusing the systeme, means giving the "server" the advantage to not be overload, and giving it the ability, to manage better incoming work load. This is a big site, and this new update, will insure for the system to work more efficiently. |
