Don't undersell yourself Bob, anyone and everyone who can see the image is qualified to comment, just say it as you see it. It's up to the photographer whether or not they take on board your comment or throw a hissy-fit.
In this case I totally agree with you, the cork bark is distracting - in my defense (excuses excuses) I have to say that I set these shots up for other people and in this case the client was very pleased with the artistically moss draped background that they had created from our props box! I have later shots taken at the end of the day where I removed the cork bark to get a seamless green which I prefer.
I wonder if I can add it in a s a workshop image to compare ...
