|Thank you for your compliments my kind friend. I did promise you a picture or two didn't I! Did you also see the first picture I posted in this "Irish series" called "Way to Blue" and if so, did you like it? I like it because it reminds me perfectly of my stay in beautiful Connemara!
It shocks and saddens when I read that you might leave TrekLens. I agree with you when you indicate your extreme unease regarding the German Nazi style portrait, and I can understand that it would upset many other TrekLensers. I also looked at a similar picture by the same photographer, of a man in a Polish Army uniform. I too experience serious unease regarding the symbolic aspects of both pictures and unease regarding battle and conflict re-enactions in general.
How can people think it's okay to publicly re-enact wartime conflict and atrocity within living memory, without any regard for those who may still be traumatized by similar experiences in real-life conflicts, and to do it for no other purpose than pure personal enjoyment?
Despite this I must say that I can see technical merit in both pictures, however, I think that they are nevertheless not suitable for publication on TrekLens for the reasons already mentioned, but that's just my opinion.
However, why should you/we let such a matter dictate whether or not we should continue enjoying our contributions, friendships and experiences here on TrekLens? That would be true capitulation to unreasonable behavior on the part of an insensitive minority wouldn't it?!
It's getting late now and I'm going on too much I think, So goodbye for now.
Very best wishes
