Yeah, this is from the Incan empire. There are 3 ways to Aguas Calientes, the town below Machu Picchu. Helicopter, train, or the Inca trail. My son, Ethan (12 yrs old) and I trekked the trail. It is 28 miles, over 4 days. You start at about 9000ft, end at Machu Picchu at 8000ft. On the trail we hiked over a 14k and a 13k foot pass. 2 camps were above 12k ft. You have to do it with a peruvian guide and porters, which is really nice. All we carried were day packs, camp was set up for us, and all meals provided. It was a fantastic experience.
