|[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note|
|In 1976 the Xhosa territory of Transkei was officially declared "independent" from South Africa and,to circumnavigate the non-gambling law in S.Africa, the Wild Coast Sun Hotel and Casino was built just inside Transkei. The casino proved extremely popular, and even now with other Casinos being opened elsewhere in S. Africa coachloads of people still come to this one on the Wild Coast.|
The scenery of Transkei is marvellous and we had a great day out (with Vic de Vries, our excellent guide) across Transkei driving on non-existent roads. Along the way children came running for sweets. This is one of those groups.
Scanned from APS print, brightened and red channel only.

I like this, everything from the cluster of children to the distant buildings and the cloud-swept sky beyond all. The compositon is excellent, and it's interesting, drawing my eye to many places within it. The only thing I'd do is add a frame, maybe a simple black one.
I am new to working with color channels. Can you explain what brightening just the red channel in a B&W image does? Did you first brighten that channel and then desatrate all?
I like this picture very mutch because it has several items that draw the attention: the children, the clouds, the hills. Love to see it in color, because the black and white gives it a darker meaning.(certainly the children) But it's a great picture !!!
BW was a good choice. It makes your photo a little dramatic. Great composition with children, field and clouds.
