[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
In Autumn and early winter the Bengali countryside used to be covered with ‘Kash’ flowers - Thatch grass, Saccharum spontaneum. These can still be seen in many places, if not in such profusion. In 1982, when this photograph was taken, the fields all around Bolpur (where Rabindranath Thakur's dream university Santiniketan is situated) were covered with Kash.
The camera was Asahi Pentax Spotmatic II and the lens was a 200 mm plus a 2X adaptor. Do not remember the exposure. The original B/W negative was scanned to get the image. The image was slightly crpped, the contrast was pushed up a bit, dust spots cleared by cloning, and, night effect added in PhotoFiltre.

That's a beautiful shot. it is very graphical. There's a great dynamic range of tone. I really like the treatment you've applied on this picutre. Well done.

Nice effect. The flower looks very fragile. Hope 2006 is a great year for you.

Wow..nicely seen Salil. It does not really matter with the gadget, what matters most is the talent of the person behind the camera. You have controlled well the light just for this flower.
