I think you've captured the essay requirements here - the colours are natural - not over cooked - and the lighting is excellent too with the emphasis on the central apple. After seeing this image I wanted to take a bite, so I headed off to the kitchen and had one for myself.

Makes me think of Johannes Vermeer's paintings as for the light source coming from a left window.
