[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
After about two hours through the Gamkas Pass one eventually arrives at the small community called Boplaas.
There one can rent one of the original houses [ still used today] which has a small gas fridge and a two plate gas stove and one makes a fire, known as a donkey, outside to warm the water. The below average rainfall with extremely hot summers with icy cold winter nights one makes a fire in the kitchen to warm up the small house. The fire is also used for cooking. It is said that a small farming community lived here for about 150 years totally cut off from the world. Even at the time of my visit most of them had no idea of world events or modern day technology. A very interesting trip in deed and a place I would love to return too.

Hello Erwin,
Thank you for the composite photo and the informative note. It must have been a very interesting place. Imagine living without any knowledge of the outside world. I wonder if they ever fought amongst themselves. I would also find a visit to Die Hel most interesting. I hope you have a few more to share. Best wishes.
