|A very belated "Happy New Year" to all treklensers. Was away and absent from the internet with technical problems.|
Not even the worst drought in many years robbed one of the most beautiful parts of the country of its beauty but it is a sad state of affairs indeed.
By the way, the top of the hill is different from the part below it as it consists of basalt rock which flowed out as a magma, 183 million years ago, onto the underlying sandstone which formed from sand dunes of a large older desert that covered most of southern Africa. The lavas themselves covered an even larger area.

The best for 2016 to you and the family. A good image showing the situation at its worst in many years. Taken in December one can see the dryness of the grass, a slight hope of rain in the BG. Truly a beautiful setting,is this taken in the Free State or Transvaal?
