Nothing works like it used to so now its many hours of candle light.Well it does give me time to sit around and think of what to do while waiting for the power to be switched on.Originally taken in RAW black and white and then converted to jpeg with a touch of single HDR process.

Normally I do not like black and white images. This presentation of yours I like very much. it reminds me of when I was small. Contributing to this is the Lion matches. The light reflects beautifully on the candles. Well done.

I like what you did. B&W suits the subject well. The front candle is well in focus and the large aperture was used well to get the 2nd candle out of focus.
Not sure that the HDR worked on this image as there are strange halos around the candles. Maybe try the same shot with a tighter crop to exclude the distracting sections of the table - I think this will do very well in a portrait format.

Hello Erwin,
This is a great still life. Contrary to Jan's preference I generally like B&W a lot and, for me, it is a great medium, if not the best. Makes me wonder why I, and all of us, do not use it much more often. The arrangement of the various elements is good and the illumination by the candles is excellent and creates wonderful atmosphere. I would have removed some, or all, of the reflections, including the one in the nearest shadow but a real delight to view. Best wishes.

Hello Jonathan! Marvelous black and white composition. Good exposure and capture. Good contrast and sharpness. Sophisticated work. Regards!

I like this composition in b&w, great idea, interesting contrast and atmosphere.
Candles provide special lighting.

Boa tarde Erwin,
A pretty 3D effect and very good angle and depth.
Fine one.

I get a kick out anyone who tries something different. Over all a very good attempt. Dislike the effect on the candles themselves but really like the effect achieved with the flames. I might attempt to burn down the candles and maybe even the matches, maybe......just a touch. Everything else I like.
