[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Another view of the same car in my last submission, except that the post processing this time involved considerably darkening the sky.

Two copies of the same RAW file were saved. One named “SKY” was considerably darkened by increasing contrast and blacks, and by decreasing exposure. The other named “FOREGROUND” was virtually unaltered apart from minor increase to fill light to draw out some detail in the foreground shadows (it was a very hot bright day). Both files were then saved as Photoshop PSD files.

(The darker) “SKY.PSD” was loaded first, followed by the correctly exposed “FOREGROUND.PSD”. The latter was then copied and pasted into the file (over) that of the former. A rough selection was made over the horizon / car and around the foreground; Refine Edge was selected with a feather value of 100px. A mask layer was then added to the foreground layer, and then a black brush with opacity 40% was used to brush over the horizon to blend in the two layers.

A new selection was made around the entire perimeter of the car, and then an inverse selection made. Convert to black and white was then selected which excluded the car.

On a separate layer a white vignette was added to the top of the image. The file was then saved as a jpeg and sharpened.

Hi Robert,
Clever combination of color and black & white really putting emphasis on the car. Very dramatic sky yet not overpowering. I like the way you have incorporated the reflections on the cars body and windows.

Hello Robert! Fantastic rear. Amazing low point of view. Perfect capture and exposure. Superb contrast. Ideal sharpness. Interesting note. Well done!
