Knowing the theme this week, I decided to spend a little time downtown Cove City, NC, where I now live.
After spending 30 minutes standing on the side of the road and seeing no cars, I decided to just take the shot that kept presenting itself to me. Cove City is a very small farming town in eastern NC. We have one stoplight, no gas station and the population here is around 450 people, so there is not much excitement. It is our city, and this is our life.
I shot this in manual mode and cropped considerably.

I like the thought of you waiting there for something to happen and then realise the image was there waiting for you.

Nice touch.

stv ;o))

Very nice contribution to Friday's theme, so rural it reminds me of when I live in Augusta, Georgia. I like the cloud formations over this tiny city. Good lighting and dof with nice details. Well done, tfs.

Good portrayal of a small farming town Bill, lots of room to breathe, large sky, rail track, power lines & a church with a steeple. How far away is the town with the gas stations & do the children have to be bussed to school?

Ron

Hello Bill, a good use of the lines on the road to take us to the heart of the picture.
I agree with Steve; waiting for something to happen....
Can I ask? It is called Cove City and yet the population is only 450?
Thanks for sharing your part of the world.
Regards Jean.

Hi Bill, now thats my kind of town... If I could afford to move, beaches or no beaches, we wouldnt be here..Looks like many little spots here if you hit the back highways. Fiona

Ciao Bill, lovely composition with great perspective, beautiful sky, wonderful colors, excellent clarity and splendid light, very well done, my friend, have a good week end, ciao Silvio

Hoi Bill,
Funny to see this.
I do live in Hoofddorp. "dorp" means "small city", but it is grown to about 90.000 citizens. We do have an amazing lot of traffic light, approx. 1 per citizen. ;-) and a lot of gas stations.

Good and honest capture of the situation and atmosphere. Good contribution to the friday theme.

Tfs
Joop!
