The Oylmpic Wheel, which had been moved to Torquay and re-named the English Riviera Wheel was situated in Princess Gardens until October of 2012.

The 60m (197ft) wheel was moved to Torquay from Victoria Park, next to the Olympic village in London.

The wheel had 40 gondolas, carrying up to 6 people at a time and one gondola having wheelchair access.

It was such a shame to see this huge attraction go, many dismissed the idea before hand but then realised what an immense pull it had with holiday makers.
Daylight was fading as i took this shot of many.

Amazing shot with a dramatic sky, Steve ;O))
Good management of light and exposure with superb sharpness and clarity.
The colors are natural and motion blur gives the picture a lively look.
Well done!

Kind regards,

Bom dia Steve

Hi Steve,
Reminiscent of the space station in the movie 'Space Odessy'.

A very dramatic POV, and remarkable focus right across the wheel.

Stunning lighting and well saturated colour, well done.

Hi Steve
good capture at “blue hour”. fine contrast and good sharpness. good exposure and right handling of poor day light. wonderful play of bright tones of blue. artistic approach with cropping, composing and framing.

Bonjour Steve
Well captured this huge wheel in low light..beautiful sky..
like the blue shades in the sky and on the wheel..Like the tight crop, and the black frame fits very well....TFS

Hi Steve,

excellent photo.I appreciate particularly the crop that you gave to it and the POV.Colours create an anxious and gloomy atmosphere, sharpness is very good.A very "cinematographic" image.

Ciao Steve, great view of fantastic wheel, excelent exposure, superb sky, splendid light and wonderful colors, very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio

Enjoy the status soon Las Vegas will two wheels (as planned for now anyway although constructions have started on both) that will be much taller and carries more people, something like 40 people per gondola. I like your capture of this wheels, I think the fading light added to the beautiful mood. Very well done, tfs.

Hi Steve,
Quite a dramatic shot of the Olympic Wheel. Nice movements of the cabins against the beautiful sky. I like the crop and the framework to enclose. Nice lighting and a neat presentation.

Hi Steve, I like your decision to crop the wheel in the way that you did, we feel really close to it!
The movement is obvious from the two gondolas on the right, and adds to the composition.
The structure looks great almost in silhouette against that darkening sky.I like the framing too, well done.
Where has the wheel gone to now?
Tfs, regards Jean.

Excellent choice of crop. With the darkening sky it makes a dramatic and attractive shot.

Bom dia Steve,
Warming up the muscles to tackle the difficult theme of the week you even proposed?
Good focal point and a discrete and visibly intentional motion effect in the layer closest to the lens.
I really enjoyed,

Hi Steve, I like the light in this , its a bit like in the moonlight.Fiona

Hi Steve,
Very well captured here MF.Artistic presentation and good play of low mixed light and yet well detailed.I like the show of movement in the gondolas.Clever tight crop.

Hi Steve,
A very good low light exposure. I like this presentation with vibrant colours and the horizontal frame.
