A berbere in Atlas told me about blue berbere, the color that they use to make their berbere houses more beautiful. There are another nuance of blue named " blue Majorelle" the one that Jacques Majorelle has chosen to his " Vila" at Marrakesh and where Yves Saint Laurent has lived. Jacques who was a painter thought that blue increased the beauty of green at Majorelle garden. Any way is the red that gives the warm tones of Marrakesh. Walls of Medina, walls of Nouvelle ville make the diference of the city.It is more a" salmon-red" that "loves" to be iluminated by golden sun at the end of the day.
I like this street almost empty but where colors give life to the photo.
I must say that Tahari ( tsilla), linus ( Sunil). Ballou, and others have great photos from Morroco. All of them show a Land full of personnality...I must return there to live the desert: try to understand the silence of the night and the gold of the day.

A wonderful daily life scene with such mysterious light and balanced exposure, Teresa!
The colors add mood and drama into the scene, and the depth you have achieved through this narrow way bring another piece of appeal to the composition.
Well captured sharpness and natural colors.
Good job!

Um abracos,
Paras

Hello Teresa,
Simplicity of a scene often times tells more of the story as there is no confusion to what the message one is attempting to portray. Here, in this beautiful image of the alleyway, all the colors that bring subjects to life, blue, red, and gold, are all present, and they each offer weight to a scene that we often overlook. One can hear the silence, yet one can hear the subject's pleas whatever they may be, and in the click of the sandal's step, there can be felt direction pointed. Without color there could not be life, as life is not black or white. Life is having choices...
Steve

Rich textures and colours. Excellent depth of field. The eye is led down the alley way, past the people, on that uneven path to the far end.
The area of exposure can be forgiven, I think.
Excellent capture.

This is really cool Teresa! LOVE the lady in blue, in motion, walking past the lady in Red. The archway is a nice frame for this scene! Love all the textures!

Hi Teresat, you have presented a well done mood without showing faces. Body language is so well captured. Light, DOF, and focus are well done and colors are natural.

Hi Teresa.

This scene gets my vote, powerful intrigue felt from the man sitting....does he wait awhile for someone or is he resting. The man walks so close to the wall...no its a female with matching head scarf and shoes. One feels a book could be written here. tfs

Hi Teresa,
A great capture from exotic Marrakech. Most of my photos from there looks kind of staged and not that real and very touristic. This on the other hand is real daily life scene. You have a very good eye to capture realism. Well done minha senhora.

Teresat,

I am mostly drawn to the "frame within a frame" of this image leading the eye deeper along the narrow pathway. DOF works well to keep FG and BG in focus and the splash of the red and blue serve as a strong contrast ot the beige of the archway and stone walkway.

Hi Teresa,
A very sharp capture and perfect momentum for this Daily Life presentation. The arch way is fantastic and the people are well placed to obtain depth. Perfect light management and such a neat presentation.
Well done, a winner, as usual, bearing your signature!

Bom dia teresa
authentic scene in an old quarter in Morocco. the arched alley is drawing you into the way of life of its inhabitants. splendid display. fine inclusion of local figures in their colored dresses in sharp contrast to the brownish stone walls and path. a perfect image with depth and interest.

PS - a visit to the Sahara desert is indeed an uplifting experience.

Hi Teresa, I just love this daily life scene - those close paths between the buildings - the atmosphere of this part of North Africa, is very intense - the dots of blue and red just add to it.
Thanks for sharing - kindest regards Monika

Wonderful Teresa, in your usual style. So much interest here, and like others have already said, a story in one photo. I can almost feel as though I'm there, hearing the sounds, and smelling the smells. I like the bright spot at the end, and just the narrow alley... the way our eye is taken right into the shot. Of course, the clothing of the two people stand out so well against those stone walls. I really like this.

Dear Teresa,

The thoughfulness behind this picture has enormous value. I was just thinking of silence of the night and golden of the day. Indeed, the picture in view shows a great perspective. An aesthetic presentation my friend. Well done. Thanks for sharing.

Hello Teresa,

Yesterday night, when I clicked on the thumbnail of this photo posted next to mine and not knowing who was the photographer (as I disabled display of the photographer’s name and of the points awarded), I did not expect to read your name beneath it. This one definitely pops out in your personal gallery, as it is somehow different from your usual work.

It took me one day to decide what I thought of this photo. On the one hand, I was enthusiastic about the scene you pictured, the perfect timing, the colors, the mood. On the other hand, I felt kind of a distance between the scene and me, preventing me from really being drawn into it, from really "feeling" it. I now think I begin to understand why... I think it has to do with your composition, that gives so much space to the architecture of the wall on the foreground, whereas the quintessence lies behind that wall, in the narrow street. Okay, I see that you choose to put this photo in the "architecture" category, but I personally belief it has a stronger "daily life" potential. To me, the focus put on the architecture of the wall distracts from what is really happening (the human dimension), it creates the distance I felt.

That’s why I would crop the photo. I did a WS to show you what I mean. I hesitated between a crop at the top or at the bottom, but finally opted for a crop at the top, as I like the stone in the lower right corner, that functions as a compositional "lead-in". There surely are other possibilities than the one shown in my WS, but the aim is just to highlight another and - in my opinion – stronger potential hidden in your photo.

Of course, this only is my view on your picture. As you know: you are free to (dis)agree ;o)

TFS & warm regards,
Erik

Bom dia Teresa,

Hello Teresa,
wonderful picture. great composition. the PoV is also excellent.
best wishes
samiran

What an image! Marvellous composition, colours and overall quality. What a pleasure to view, Theresa. I think Erik's WS is nice but not an improvement - your composition is still better with the part at the top included.
Neels

fabulous photo, my dear friend Teresa. You are far and far above almost everybody on this site that I am surprised why you are still here. :) ciao, Janos

Well chosen pov to shot this striking arch in Salmon Pink and the alley leading our eyes away into the distance. The red and blue individuals create a nice point of contrast. Nice shot
regards
David

Hi Teresa,
Nice perspective, it reminds me of some of the old James Bond movies [ racing through the narrow streets]. Narrow path leads one through this scene wondering whats around the corner, great details in the buildings and pathway. The colours probable fit into the surrounding desert colours.
erwin...

Hi Teresa, I like the way they seem to be keeping the two colours as far away from each other in the street as they can.Fiona

Love the composition! So so powerful and moving--a walk on a narrow alley and the contrast of colors between the two women. Good lighting and dof with nice details. Very well done, tfs.

Gosto do contraste das roupas ,que forma um equilibrio para depois entrar na perfundidade da rua etc, parabens muito boa captura alem do seu fantastico olhar.

cumprimentos deste teu amigo

Ola Teresa ,glad to see another image of your tour of Marrakech but hey it is so quiet here, your previous photo showed the bustle and hustle of the main square yet a little away from the chaos you found this cute little street, an engaging view through the arch past the women to where the alley bends ..who knows but you what lies beyond... a huge crowd perhaps,,, hey hey , good one my friend ,tfs,
take care ,
Um abraço,
Carol

Hello Teresat,

You're capturing well this back alley by a good angle and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see the tasteful gate and the wall/houses in the both sides of an alley with perspective. It's impressive in traditional clothes with original color which those who is walking along the alley, and a sitting person wear. And, it draws out a good effect in this image for the shade of shadow and highlight.

Kind regards,
mikio

Perfect composition and lighting. I love the way you've caught the two individuals in the shot, and the way that the eye naturally follows the perspective.

Hi Teresat

Good warm cold cold contrasts between the blue, yellow & red with excellent perspective afforded by the narrowing alleyway. I might have tried burning in the bg highlights using levels but that's only a minor quibble. Fantastic sharpness & good colour saturation. Tfs!

Hi Teresat,

The length of the street is giving depth to the composition. The presence of the people is giving life to the scene. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the clothing and of the architecture of the arch. The light has a good effect on the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello Teresat
This street looks beautiful because it is almost empty, so I can see the ground, the walls and this arch with the splendid light.
Good work, well done.
