[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Crew of a preserved "Black Five" awaiting departure time during a recent steam gala on the West Somerset Railway. This locomotive was double-headed with the only surviving Ivatt 4MT (just visible in this shot).

A stunning image Robert, lovely tonal range, nice details on the near locomotive.
I do like the locos number being visible between the two men.
Takes me back to my boyhood years watching the trains getting up steam on a wonters morning.
My dad was a railway signal maintainer.
Cheers and TFS,
Peter.

Fantastic shot captured with superb mood in it, Robert!
Great details and well caught drama into the scene, caught with amazing light and exposure.
Good clarity and nice DOF too.
Well done!
Have a nice weekend.

Hi Rob.
I like the depth created with the steam wafting across the platform. You kept the driver and fireman in good detail and in focus. Great angle adopted too. tfs

Hi Robert,
Lovely moody shot of this engine and drivers, lovely fifties iconic look to it and excellent atmosphere, on a personal note I think, if you could have, came out a bit so the foot was not chopped and also giving a little bit more of the reflection of the driver in the paintwork. That's just my opinion tho - excellent shot.
Best wishes
Bri
