Bengal Eagle Owl.

Found across Asia, Bengalese Eagle Owls generally grow to about 2 foot in height. They eat small mammals such as rats, mice and medium-sized birds.

Flying uses a lot of energy so owls, like any other bird, only fly when it is necessary - not for fun. They fly to find food, mate or to migrate.

Through winter Ozzie does not fly at all so that he can increase his weight as he uses more energy in cold weather- as do all other mammals including us!

Most owls hunt their prey at night. Bengalese Eagle Owls are an exception. They hunt their prey by day and sleep at night – just like us!

The simple way to tell whether an owl hunts by day or night is by the colour of their eyes. Owls with orange or yellow eyes hunt by day. Owls with blue or brown eyes hunt by night.

Owls cannot move their eyes in their sockets like us, so for them to see around they have to swivel their head. Owls can swivel their heads 180 degrees so they can see directly behind them. They cannot turn a full circle because their heads would fall off!

Hello Steve,
What a magnificent image! He checks one out with one eye and one ear, the others probably making observation in another direction. Oh ok, can't be looking in different directions at the same time. Very informative note. The colours and definition are just fantastic and so is the background. A fabulous portrait of this beautiful bird. Well done.

Hi Steve - this is just fantastic - how can you get soo close, I can count the feathers and the little feathers above the eye are adorable.
This is a perfect presentation. Congratulations.
Kind regards Monika

Hi Steve,

A very fine CU of this Bengal Eagle owl. The blur around the edges is very well applied. The most important part of any bird, especially in photography as we all know are the eyes...They are very well captured and really contrast well with the plumage. Very well done. TFS.

salam Steve,
Good job! You have made a comics portrait! It's like a scene of an animation. Foggy rounded corners, and an eye on the hidden side, while a little black circle shows off as to be a pirate's eye cover, has made the picture exceptional. TFS.

Hello,absolutely stunning!Superb colors and sharpness for a very artistic cmposition.All the best,Otto.

Stunning resolution and sharpness, with a nice feathered border.

Bonjour Steve,
