A Rose Within

A certain man planted a rose and watered it faithfully,
and before it blossomed, he examined it.
He saw the bud that would soon blossom and
also the thorns. And he thought,
"How can any beautiful flower come from a plant
burdened with so many sharp thorns?"
Saddened by this thought, he neglected to water the rose,
and before it was ready to bloom, it died.

So it is with many people. Within every soul there is a rose.
The God-like qualities planted in us at birth
grow amid the thorns of our faults.
Many of us look at ourselves and see only the thorns and the defects.
We despair, thinking that nothing good can possibly come from us.
We neglect to water the good within us, and eventually it dies.
We never realize our potential.
Some people do not see the rose within themselves;
someone else must show it to them.

One of the greatest gifts a person can possess
is to be able to reach past the thorns and find the rose within others.
This is the characteristic of love, to look at a person,
and knowing his faults, recognize the nobility in his soul,
and help him realize that he can overcome his faults.
If we show him the rose, he will conquer the thorns.
Then will he blossom, blooming forth thirty,
sixty, a hundred fold as it is given to him.

Our duty in this world is to help others by showing
them their roses and not their thorns.
Only then can we achieve the love we should feel for
each other.........
Only then can we bloom in our own garden

Beautiful Steve! In my opinion, this color of Rose is the best to photograph of all. Red's are the most difficult! LOVE the water drops and the nice tight crop!

Hi Steve,
A nice capture of this wet rose! I like the low POV and the crystal clear droplets hanging on the pale pink petals of this tender flower!
Impeccable sharpness and perfect light.
I congratulate you for the philosophic thought in your notes! Well done.
My best regards,

Francis Xavier

I love the bokeh and the this flower which look so pretty with thw water drops, Steve!

Good control on light and exposure with amazing sharpness and details.
The colors are natural and DOF is excellent.

Well caught floral macro shot!

These fresh droplets get a 3-D appearance when I look at this picture for couple of seconds in a stretch, Steve ;O))

Good focus and well kept contrasts within the image.
The colors of the rose are beautifully caught, and as Linda mentioned, this color combination is indeed the best one to shoot. The exposure and light are very well handled.

A piece of artwork!

Greetings,
Paras

Hi Steve,

Love the repetition of the water droplets and the 1/2 circle composition. Good use of selective focus with a nice blurred bg and the dark green adds graphism to the well lit fg rose. Have a great weekend!

Having worked in a treatment centre I can concur with your philosophy. Some people have only experienced the thorns of other people and so their initial response is thorny. It often takes perseverance to encourage the rose to become visible in others.
A beautiful rose enhanced by your creative use of light.Nice posting.
regards
David

Steve
Spettacolare incisione della lente sull'immagine.
Un macro che evidenzia una "forma" di rugiada.
L'acqua da sempre ha valorizzato l'immagine .
I fotografi famosi prima della guerra l'adoravano.

Hello Steve :)

The very beautiful, elegant rose which on the dark background presents herself magnificently.
The drops of water on her petals look how diamonds.
The showy composition showed perfectly and executed in beautiful
colours and light, I like him very much!

With best wishes.
Barbara.
