Here is my small contribution to the theme of this Friday! The dual bridge sees its origin in the expansion of the Hotel Dieu Hospital particularly busy during the many epidemics. In 1515 the only remaining building space available was the small arm of the Seine. The city, seeing it as a gene to navigation, opposed. It was not until 1626 that permission was given to costs and expenses of the hospital. The bridge will be built on three arches, over 6 years, 2 years after the buildings. From 1627 the State, under popular pressure, gives notice to the directors of make way for local residents. A double is the price. Everything is codified but users will not pay this excessif.Émeutes, events, fines, fighting, even death for "tax collectors", leading to the privileges and exemptions for some, to repression, prosecutions, convictions, fines and punishments for copies other. Lease renewal in 1698 will lead the "board" to remove and to increase under pressure, the list of exempted. Under the crush of a procession the bridge collapses late 1709. It was rebuilt, maintained the toll, as the rebellions they will continue to its abolition in 1789.L unhealthiness of hospital wards, the dumping of rubbish, washing under the piles, the density of buildings that leave neither air nor take the sun accelerates the agreements with the city in 1822 and the bridge will be shot in 1847 and was replaced by a single arch masonry. In 1883 it will be demolished to make way for a metal arch. A bit of history, does not hurt, does it not?? Myself perplexed about the fate of this beautiful bridge!!!

Bonjour Odile

The Notre Dame Cathedral in the bg makes a superb backdrop to this charming old Bridge across the River Seine. Good color, sharpness, density & saturation. I like the warm cold colour contrast between the blue sky & red railings. Amicalement!

Hi Odile,
A lovely composition. I like the very tight crop with the famous Notre dame looming over the bridge. The pedestrians on the bridge adds life to the scene. Very good job.

Awesome capture of this bridge and the world famous building. And thank you for the wonderful information. Great lighting and good details. Wonderful colors. Well done, tfs.

I like the depth you have managed to get in this shot, Odilé!

Great details and well chosen POV by keeping the railing diagonal into a vertical frame.
The sharpness and DOF are excellent, and colors are quite fine too, however, I see a bit of harsh light on the building of Notre Dame but that is just a minor issue.

I visited this place a decade ago. It was wonderful to be there and your picture refreshed my memories of my visit to Paris.

A nice contribution to Friday's theme.

Have a nice weekend.

Ciao Odile, great POV by bridge on fantastic church, beautiful perspective, wonderful colors and splendid sharpness, very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio

Hi Odile.

Such a grand image, the architecture as your BG is of epic proportions, size and detail. The bridge fits well here, it holds a stately feel, the banister rails and low arch.

The gradient sky and light reflection the stone details grab the attention too, i like the areas of green to break up the tones. Have a good weekend Odile. TFS

bonjour Odile,

Poche volte ho visto in fato questa struttura in ferro ....
Ottima condivisione

Bon dimanche.

Bonjour Odile. What a lovely composition and a great POV to capture the beauty of this beautiful architecture. Photo is sharp, well exposed and so informative. Presentation is excellent and add to the beauty of this marvel of achitecture basking in sunlight.Cheers

Bonjour Odile

Good use of your wide angle lens to create this lovely composition. The inclusion of the bridge and tourists is good and I like the contrast of the cathedral against the blue sky. Nice ob

Bonjour Odile, this bridge is unusual, it has the colour of wood, but is obviously metal!
Your PoV is very good, giving us the shape of the bridge besides the beautiful Notre Dame.
You were blessed with a sunny day and a perfect blue sky.
Excellent DoF. I like to see all the people getting on with their lives.
Tfs, regards Jean.

Bonsoir Odile,
