[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Adansonia digitata tree is the most commonly found form of the Adansonia species in Africa. They thrive in the hot and dry climate in the African Savanna. These trees are typically known as a baobab tree, aka, upside down tree. I took this shot while on the Kilomanjaro Safari at Disney's Animal Kingdom. This attraction simulates an open-sided safari ride through the savanna of East Africa. The ride stops very infrequently and the roads traveled on are very bumpy, so quality shots become quite a challenge.

Although there was not much noise, I first ran the image through Nik's noise reduction software (Dfine 2.0) to remove any detected noise. I then used the ruler tool within photoshop to correct a slight tilt in the shot. I then used the NIK Viveza plugin for photoshop to adjust brightness and saturation on the image. I created a layer of the water and significantly increased the structure in order to enhance the reflections. I did not alter the color of anything except enhance the vibrancy of the sky.

My time on TL has been very limited lately as I am preparing for finals, final projects, and papers.

I like the shape of the tree against nearly calm waters, Kurt!
Great details and perfect mood you have caught here.
The colors are natural and POV is excellent.

Interesting tree, it looks like a bundle of several trees. I like the soft reflection in the water. The POV is good so is the exposure management and colors. Nice work.

Hi Kurt,
Beautiful light in this landscape shot. Sharpness is outstanding and the rippled reflection in the water is enhancing this marvelous composition.
Nice contrasts, especially with the blue sky and such a neat presentation.
Well done,

Francis Xavier

Hi Kurt - overall a nice photo with impeccable sharpness and colour. I do think I'd go for a CP rather than a UV filter though, just to really blast the colour out here!

My other idea would be to crop out the escaped bushy bits in the FG, maybe make a more panoramic style shot. Just a thought!

Hello Kurt

I took davids suggestion and tweaked... I did do the crop and adjusted brightness and contrast. I will up;oad workshop if I can get this site to work. Nice image to play with.

Olá Kurt
Good composition where sharpness and luminancecatch our attention and nature life seems all awake.

Good morning Kurt

These trees also grow in north western Australia, and they even used the hollowed out centre of one of these trees as a prison! Good color, sharpness & saturation. Well composed using the principle of three. Tfs!

Hello Kurt,
I do not believe this...an upside down Baobab tree in the US. But then, it is Disney World after all. But what a beautiful image...it looks just like Africa. Excellent quality and composition.

Hi Kurt..nice shot. Excellent colors and details. Nice work on the focus and exposure.

A very pastoral scenic with good color saturation and good mid-afternoon light revealing the form and structure of the Adansonia digitata tree. Strong POV and well composed.

PS: Glad to finally have time back on TL with the show now open.

A tree, I think unusual in Florida, perhaps imported from centuries.
It seems a humid Africa.
You have to save the Florida and the beautiful wetlands.
Great shot and presentation.
