[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hi Friends. This is my first time to participate in a Friday Theme.

The photo I've chosen was taken from our company gymn where there were lively-music and cool air from the air-conditioner. The place is well-illuminated. The ambiance and mood of the place is really conducive.

Here I converted the photo to a melancholy BW, asked my colleague weightlifter to look down sadly and re-created the ambiance to a gloomy/sad mood.

Thanks for looking.

Ola Phil
Great mood in this photo, and good work with the few light.
About «connotation», the theme, the squares of light in the body suggests me a prisoner in the bathing area of his jail.
Powerful image.
Congrats, mb

Welcome to the theme and for playing well with the light, the B/w and the mood.
It could be a prison or an hospital...places we lost freedom and the feeling is writing in face. You work well the light.
A good B/W photo.
um abraço
teresa

Hi Phil,

The pose your colleague struck here almost looks as if he was praying. The b&w conversion is reminiscent of the old movies about boxers and he looks like he could be a boxer, as well. I like the mood you achieved here. Was the cross-hatched shadowing applied in post-processing or the result of a window?

Nicely done!

Hi Phil, perfect image for this weeks theme,I think there should be a multitude of different interpretations of your image, for me I see someone disappointed that his weight is the same as when he started his exercises.

Hi Phil,

The first sight made me think, as Jose said, at a prisoner in his jail!
So the connotation theme, is well rendered considering the mood you created, and the interpretation that each viewer can have looking at your photo.
Clever B&W conversion and very good depth.
My compliments!

Annie

Hi Phil, a good start to joining the themes. At first glance I thought of a dark dingy place with a guy unhappy with his weight not a company gym. Well done with the pp work. Fiona
