[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Apidae (Bumble Bee) at rest on Western Cone Flower (Asteraceae: Rudbeckia occidentalis)

In the late evening as the temperatures dropped in the high mountains near Strawberry Reservoir, the insects (including this bumble bee) sought protection from vegetation. They could be found invariably hanging on upside down and were reluctant to move. These conditions are optimal for insectivorous mammals seeking a good meal.
