[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This Sacred Bridge (神橋 Shinkyō?) crossing the Daiya River, belongs to the Futarasan Shrine, which is about 2km over on the right.

"Between the Japanese town of Nikko and its main shrines is the Shinkyo (sacred bridge), a red lacquered span that arches gracefully across the Daiya River.

Legend has it that the hermit who settled Nikko was carried across the river here by two serpents. In feudal times, the sacred bridge could be used only by the emperor (Shogun).

The Shinkyo has long been considered one of the most beautiful structures in Japan, its simple elegance contrasting with the wildness of the river gorge, the green hills, and the tumbling waters.

From here, a road leads into the park, threading through 16,000 towering cedar trees."

Hi Chris, another wonderful presentation from your part of the world. The PoV with the bridge curving away from us takes us further into the scene.
The snow brings extra light into the picture and the colours and sharpness are excellent.
Your notes are very interesting.
Tfs, regards Jean.

Chris
Good leading line from the lower left corner towards the bridge and then over the bridge and into the woods and to the distant maountains. You managed to contain the detail in the snow (so easy to get it all bright and washed out). Can do with a tad more sharpnes (if you use photoshop, try a high pass filter at 1 pixel).

Well done and TFS
Andrei

Hi Chris
wonderful winter scene. nice day for pleasant colors.
good POV. the red bridge is in fine balance with the street lanterns. the river leads the eyes into the depth of the image.

Hi Chris,
A splendid Winter shot with lovely colors of the golden foliage on one side and the snow on the other linked by a splendid bridge. An oriental ambient wonderfully presented in this neat presentation.
Fabulous lighting and accurate sharpness. The POV is fantastic and DOF is wonderful. I like the shadows and the beautiful warm lighting on the snow.
Well done,

Francis Xavier

Bonjour Chris,
Odile

I like how the lanterns on the left point to the mountains and the bridge underlines the mountains. Nice composition of an interesting place TFS

Konichiwa Chris,
I believe wood has significant role in Japanies construction for ages. And I believe this arch bridge is also made up of wood along with it's pillars. A beautifuly snapshot from the winter. Excellent composition, well done my friend. Thanks for sharing.
Sayonara,
Inaam

Truly agree with your note , the bridge is elegant indeed perhaps even more with the light layer of white snow along its arch , one of these years i will go to Japan and see this lovely bridge with my own eyes ,envy you for that Chris ,
Love the deep red here very much, i believe it is popular in and around shrines and temples in Japan.
Well done my friend,
Carol

Hello Chris,

This is a beautiful shot of this bridge with a lot of deepness toward the far away mountains. The light on the trees gives nice colors that contrast with the snow covered ground on the other side and in the shadow. Very well done.

Best regards

Jacques
