Friday theme: This is my style

Instead of showing you the result of my style, I am showing you the technic of my style. I did and still do a lot of Macrophotography. On my Nikon cameras I used 3 different macro lens (Vivitar Serie One 90mm, Micro-Nikkor 55mm and the latest Nikon 105mm f/2.8 AF-S VR Macro).

I use a Canon 250 close-up lens (doublet),I also use 3 different Nikon extension tube to increase magnification. I started long ago with a Nikon PB-IV bellows (included picture)with fixed lens ranging from 20mm to 135mm. I also adapted the bellow to receive other type and brand of lenses as Olympus bellow macro lens and darkroom enlarger lens. Later I got an Olympus bellow which I equiped with 3 specialized Olympus macro bellow lenses (20mm, 38mm and 80mm).

With that equipment I can take picture of subject with film plane magnification ranging from infinity to about 10X, which mean the image on film is about 10 times bigger on film (or sensor) than the subject it self.

Long ago before the event of TTL camera and flash metering, I had to calculate light exposure lost due to high magnification, and as an engineer I loved the process, but today it's a lot easier with TTL.

So what is my style? Technical photography, and macro among other activities I did (underwater photograpy for example)is for me a great pleasure and a source of discovery and achivement.

I put few macro shot in WS made with such a set up. If you want to see more, than visite Athila on Treknature.com.

Thanks for viewing.

Dar Alain,

Yes, I believe your style is "macro".
This is a wonderful shot with such perfect sharpness and clarity!
I like the POV here highlighting the important parts of the camera.
The color tones are subtle.
Well done.

Have a nice weekend.

Hi Alain - how are you?

Nice idea, and a good view of your set-up. What I don't like is the use of direct flash to illuminate the subject. It's led to bright flashy bits and also leaves dark shadows. I built a very simple light tent - a cardboard box with the sides cut out and a white sheet fixed over, lots of bright light outsidde and that gives even, shadowless lighting.

Olá Alain
I like your Idea for this theme and it is very well done with a good edition work.I like how you had control de light and the use of vignette to make to increase the power of " the machine" that steals souls.
...friday theme as been richer with you.
um abraço

Bonjour Alain
Pas seulement la macro, mais aussi la technique, la nature, la pédagogie , la "large vue" etc... et wahoooo le matos !....Je me contorsionnerais bien aussi pour en avoir un pareil...

Bonjour Alain

I like the vignetting. The small areas of oe from the flash detract a little, but your outdoor photography is fine. Nice to see how it's done too. Amicalement et bon Dimanche!

The strong vignetting is appropriate, the focus and light perfect and your message is well accepted . . . TFS
