[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
We took a friend from out of town through the Allegheny Cemetery, a sprawling cemetery that dates back to 1845 and is home to the remains of war heroes, steel barons, politicians, professional athletes and other Pittsburgh luminaries going back to the Civil War. We came across this unusual and somewhat neglected mausoleum sitting by itself on top of a small rise. I was fascinated by its unusual shape and the way that nature has taken hold in the cracks and crevices around the old dome.

PP: Cropped, selectively sharpened and lightened areas of the structure using paintbrush tools, adjusted highlights.

I admire the play between light and shadow, and the view of this historical cemetery you have captured here, Sandy!

The plants coming out of the fissures on the tomb of the building which are providing wonderful color contrast and keeping perfect exposure on the monument, made this work somewhat special.
Like the POV and DOF you have got here.
Great job!

Thanks and regards,
Paras

Hi Sandy,
This is a very nice POV for this scene. Good lights/shadows and the musoleum does appear to be overgrown. Nicely composed with good natural colors. TFS Julie

Oh my...Dave needs to take me here! I love this! Really nice shot, the hills make it for me. I could spend hours here just taking nice shots. If you ever come to Houston, there is a glorious cemetery off Washington called Rosewood. Howard Hughes is buried there. And the largest oak tree I've ever seen in my life.... I'll take you there!

I am specially attracted to old/ancient buildings and graveyards in peaceful settings even more so , no wonder this has an impact on me , interesting composition Sandy with the gently sloping grass leading down to the neglected mausoleum that you have framed up nicely with trees , that is precisely the one structure that makes the scene heartrending , with such poor maintenance it has obviously sunk into oblivion for some time sadly ..
Thank you my friend for this picture ,i like this ,
My best regards,
Carol

Hi Sandy,
What glorious lighting on this structure in such an old cemetery.
Great definition in the stonework and the grass with the perfect illumination.
A very good eye to compose such a marvel observing this fantastic light.
Very neat work.
My best regards,

Francis Xavier

Hi Sandy,

A great architectural shot. The structure itself is very interesting, and your composition takes full advantage of it. The diagonal formed by the foreground markers and the trees on either side frame the structure nicely. Good job with your pp work.

Werner

Hi Sandy..nice job on the composition and the light. Very nice shot.

Hi Sandy, Nice shot with good composition and nice natural light cross the yard. The two trees on the FG add to the depth of this image. Great shot
