Good Morning Everyone,

This shot was taken on the edge of Derwent Water on a misty morning, earlier this month.

I wanted my pov to lead along the jetty and to terminate with the steeple of the church, in Keswick. Obviously, the very atmospheric mist prevented any long distance clarity but, for me, it created an amazing contrast between the f/g and the b/g.

It was only later, on close inspection, that I realised there was a person in the shot!! 'Bottom' right hand corner!

Shot in RAW.
Converted with PSE6.
pp little sharpening, slight crop, added borders and signed, then added diffuse glow, which produced a most interesting, patchiness to the mist, which was very true to the conditions.

Many thanks for stopping by, Bev :-)

Hi Bev,

I really like the mood in this misty shot. I agree that it might be better without the person in the shot, but you could clone him out if you wanted to take the time. I think I may have cropped the area to the left of the pilings to remove the partial boats, they don't seem to quite work in this scene, IMHO. The wide angle used provides ample DOF even at f/5.

Warm regards,
Werner

Excellent and very nice work..

Nicely planned out shot Bev. The long boards of the jetty do take the eye into the shot. The mist in the distance adds a nice peaceful moody feel. Well done
have a nice weekend

Hi Bev,
A splendid composition in this landscape shot. A wondeful POV with this wooden jetty emerging into the water. I like the curved wooden planks of the floor! A considerable DOF with the misty BG.
A peaceful presentation.
My regards,

Francis Xavier

Hi Bev,It would have been nice if the sun could have shown itself for just a moment over the church, but then you wouldn't have caught this moody shot. My eye did not notice the person in the image ,until I had read your notes, your use of the jetty as the leading lines to the church in the background, kept my eyes to where they were leading & away from the visuals in the lower right.I differ a little from Werner's viewpoint of the boats to the right of the jetty.I like that they are there as well as a little blue of the lake, makes a good balance to the boats & water on the right,I also think if removed it may make the jetty to large of a solid mass & effect the balance of the image to much, but that's just my viewpoint, doesn't mean its correct.

Enjoy your weekend
Ron

Hi Beverly,
Very nice place and perpective of this shot,

Excellent POV. and DOF. well presented and composed..
very well done.
Michel

Hi Bev,

This is a lovely well thought out composition, using perspective to great advantage. The detail caught in the foreground on the jetty is very sharp and I like the misty background. Interesting effect produced by the diffuse glow, I have not seen that before.

Regards

Joy

I think this is such a nice shot Bev. Beautiful soft mist and mood. I love the pov and the way the pier draws you in. I feel like I am a part of this wonderful scene. Great job. TFS and have a fantastic weekend, Lori

The framing adds wonderfully to the mood here -- very fine posting, wonderful mood (seems everyone is into the spring mood now :-))
