I took this picture in Catania, where we can find this plant along the ditches and embankments, thanks the mild weather.

From Wikipedia:
Euphorbia pulcherrima, commonly known as poinsettia or noche buena, is a species of flowering plant indigenous to Mexico and Central America. Also in southern Italy grows wild along the ditches and embankments.
The name "poinsettia" is after Joel Roberts Poinsett, the first United States Minister to Mexico, who introduced the plant into the US in 1825. It is also called the Atatürk flower in Turkey.
It belongs to the family Euphorbiaceae, order Euforbiali (Euphorbiales). Within its trunk and its branches there is a milky substance (latex), slightly irritating to the skin but is highly toxic to dogs and cats .
Her beauty is without doubt the flowering but, contrary to what one might think, its flower, called cyathium, with petals and sepals arranged in pairs, not red but yellow and surrounded by a ring of five red bracts (although there are also pink var. Annette Hegg Pink, white var. Annette Hegg White and bright red var. Annette Hegg Supreme).
It is a plant typically photoperiodic or brevidiurna, so its flowering occurs in winter when the days are shorter.
The Poinsettia is a plant typically Christmas: often, when it loses its leaves, is thrown away, whereas if it has good roots and placed in a bright place, letting it grow all summer, in late September - when it is reported to 'inside - will resume its flowering. At bedtime, you may keep the summer sun with occasional watering, but also with some fertilizer monthly.

Hello Vanda,

Hi Vanda,
Beautiful capture of this Poinsettia under such marvelous lighting. I like the contrast you managed to perform with correct PP work! Perfect sharpness on the main flower while a beautifully blurred one at the back.
Very neat work.

Stunning exposure with beautiful framing and composition! The lighting is very well seen and captured with good sharpness and color saturation. Really good notes to accompany your work- well done!

Good Morning Vanda,

It is lovely to think of these pretty plants growing wild. For me, they are a symbol of Christmas, as the potted plants are always on sale with other seasonal plants, such as holly, ivy and mistletoe.
The light is lovely on the f/g leaves and petals giving interesting details to the sharp exposure.

Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Hello Vanda,a good composition with a good sharpness on the fg "flower",and the echo of the blurred " flower" in the bg.
Red and green always catch the eye, they are beautiful together.
An appropriate frame.
I cannot imagine seeing these in the wild, as Bev has said, we see these plants for sale at Christmas.
Tfs, regards Jean.

Olá Vanda,
Belíssimas foto e composição. A grande virtude aqui é a extraordinária harmonia entre luz nitidez, até mesmo da moldura que tem um função de aprofundar a cena.
