[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
My Brother in Law Dwight is visiting for a few days and I decided to play with the light and try to duplicate the tones of one of Annie Liebovitz's great shots of Willie Nelson.

Dwight's features lend themselves to this type of side lighting. The contrast was increased before conversion to black and white and the Green Channel used primarily through the Channel Mixer. An Overlay channel at 10% added some extra contrast.

Another strong portrait with great expressions, Roger!
The focus on the right eye of your relative, is simply great which makes this work simply marvelous.
The black BG provides great platform for nice contrast.
Well done as always!

Greetings,
Paras

Roger, Well done. The photo showes a very shophisticated style, as pointed out by the others, that reveals detail and character. No doubt you would do honor to anyone who sits before your lens.

Happy New Year,
Paul

Hi Roger.
An expression which has a lot to say, nicely framed and effective lighting, deep eyes and beautiful portrait work of your brother in law.
sir do you use only modeling light of some kind of strobe with soft box not its flash?
Best Wishes
mushtaq

Hi Roger,

Excellent portrait, the lighting is spot on,their is a nice luminance on his beard,I reckon he will be delighted with this portrait. All the best for the new year.

Douglas

Hello Roger,

You truly are the master of portraits.
The lighting produces just the right contrast of eye contact and subdued mystery; there is a strong catchlight in the right eye and a viewer's interpretation on the the left eye.
The dark b/g allows the face to be framed in the f/g, and merge into oblivion in the b/g; a great way to engage the viewer's thoughts.
I just love it. Definitely magazine quality!

My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Looks pretty dead on to me. Very good lighting, and I love how sharp the photo is. Excellent work.

I like the bright eye that looks to us...and never stop to do it...you have make eternel Dwight as a portrait of someone public important ( as a president). I love the way you always found to iluminate skin and expressions.
Hope your New year keep your energy and kindness.
My regards Roger
