Like geometry these lines have been built many, many years ago. This photo have been taken in Pompeei. It is great how stones and lines can resist. I still remember this: y= mx + b Do you? Is realy like this... a line?
I was in high school when I have known what Geometry was about... at first I didn´t like it...at the end... I loved it .
I have converted in B/W , I played with light and shadows and resized to TL.

"In the various arts, and above all in that of writing, the shortest distance between two points, even if close to each other, has never been and never will be, nor is it now, what is known as a straight line, never, never, to put it strongly and emphatically in response to any doubts, to silence them once and for all."
José Saramago ( 1922-2010).

Hello Teresat,
From within darkness' shadows emerges the rays of life. From negatives comes positives, but where positives stand negatives are no longer visible. It is the same repeated, century after century. Our minds work alike, what is not understood is soon learned, and life goes on.
Archways are always beautiful in B/W as are yours here! I love the old castles that lie in ruin in Northern France as they too offer arches that describe life through shadow and light.
Very nice image...
Steve

Hola Teresat

la imagen me da la impresión de un camino subjetivo, con introspección. Las sombras y lces dan un reflejo bien logrado te felicito

Dear Teresa
You made wonderful image of a simple subject with your special post processing
The old theme is a right choice here; I like the curves, deep shadows and strong highlights
You have brilliant imagination... always, bravo
Alireza

Hi Teresa,

Very graphic, bold, and compelling. I do like the idea of light and shadow, cold and warm, and the repetition of columns. Your pp work is superb and skillful. My best regards.

Danilo

Nice geometry and I've taken simiilar images but your textures and the B&W rendition makes yours better than mine. But there is an emptiness in the middle. To be perfect you would need a very interesting person walking in or out of the geometry - a nun or a priest in robes. Difficult to organize on short notice, I know!
John

Hi Teresat,
A beautiful shot with artistic contribution to the Friday's theme, the majestic lighting is amazing with nice light and shades on the arches, well done my friend.

Best Wishes

dear Teresa,
vertical lines and circular lines of repetitional arches are making beautiful geometrical perspective,
but moreover this light and shadow on stone wall of inner arch tunnel are making artistic and deeply touching depth of space,
a poetic view in timeless space, even the light is frozen in it,
thank you for your excellent shot,
Akihisa

Bravo et amitié

Óla Teresa,

This is a remarkable shot where you some great details from an old architecture!
I like the low-light conditions which bring certain mood into the shot. The POV you chose for this shot, is nice and gives certain in depth to the work.

Other than that, the sharpness and clarity are well done. Great job as always!

Um abracos,
Paras

Excelente Teresa, essa é a geometria de uma alma capaz de se empolgar com a beleza.
Bela peça nas suas nuanças, atos e entreatos = a luz/sombra.
Das melhores contribuições.
Minhas homenagens,
R.

Nice one, cool pattern created by arcs.
In terms of light, huge dynamic range, you played with high contrasts between OE burned areas and dark black areas... appropriate to accomplish your goal. It shows talent and you know what you´re doing, it is not a random effect.

Hello, Teresa -
Just a wonderful image for this theme. There is such beauty in the curves and lines of these arches; the alternating light and shadow provides great contrast and separation. A special light quality is present (as it is in so many of your images), and sharp details as well. Excellent, my friend.

Ciao Teresat

A great artistic work....thanks to Pompei :))))
Excellent POV and I like the splendid game of lights and shadows.
A suggestive place, with great atmosphere.
Congratulations for your skill.
Have a nice Sunday!
Ciao. Vanda

Beautiful curves and repetitious lines throughout your photo. Very mysterious feel too. The lights and shadows accentuate the rustic details of this old building. Perfect tones for this type of photo. This would also look nice with the golden sepia tones.

ciao, Lisa

Hi Teresa
Impressive job my friend
Great symmetry, light and color choice
Take care

Fantastic Teresa .. in your usual fashion. Love the timeless, rugged look of this. Perfectly constructed too. Great job

Hello Teresat! I love this, the B&W was the way to go for sure. Well composed and shot with a good technique. Great atmosphere in it too. I did something similar a long time ago but I prefer yours:

One can feel the "AGE" of these archways, what do they support & where does the path lead to? I think the light may have been difficult to control,in the coloured version was there a slight OE.
A strong image Teresat,I half expect a monk to be walking into the scene.

Hello Teresa :)

These are very bautiful architectural elements
in colours white and black and good light..
Very pretty and interesting composition and realization!
I congratulate realization, it pleases me very!

With best wishes.
Barbara

You created some spooky atmosphere here, something says me....is going to come somebody from those arches... uuuuhhhh ;)

I love the BW level you set up here, fit sooooo well.

Brava!

Marco

Hi dear Teresat....
If i had made this picture...it is sure that i would use it for a photo/montage.
Exactly the kind of picture that i prefer....
Bravo it's a great picture
Claude

José Saramago could not be more exact in his own words ,yesssss nothing will get you from A to B in the shortest time than in a straight line , so true and it is not an assumption it is stricty the only logical way to contemplate distances !
Nice lines and curves in your tightly cropped tunnel-like alleyway my friend ,great to see the way out or exit to the far right of your frame , logically it is not the straightest of lines but hey aesthetically and photographically it is better ( the rule of thirds ...) , how strange we interpret lines , hi hi !
Love the B&W just as much as you use this medium in most of your photographs just as i like them to be ... I did not know there was a Friday Theme about 'Geometry' , wish i had been able to participate ,a good one for the theme anyway dear ,
Cheeers,
Carol

Hi, Teresa. A nice POV to get the inricate details and a well balanced geometric composition. The lighting, accentuating the curves, and high contrast with texture makes this a elegant photograph.

L;ove the textures in the old bricks, the contrast of light & shadow & the repetition of the receding multiple arches. Good work! Tfs!

Olá Teresa,
An array of arches are providing feeler as how smart were the ancient architects. And the curvature of the corridor is also interesting. You've beautifully documented this snapshot in monochrome composition and in excellent luminosity. A wonderful presentation, well done my friend. Thanks for sharing.
Best Wishes,
Inaam

Ciao Teresa, lovely B&W composition with great perspective on old arches, excellent clarity, splendid light and beautiful geometries, very well done my friend, ciao Silvio

Hi Teresa.

Another wonderful moody scene, one filled with feelings and moodiness.

We see the light, it shows the way to safety...or does it.

Great textures and curves, superb perspective. tfs
