[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
On the first day of spring, the animals at the Pittsburgh Zoo were quite active in the cool, sunny weather. However, nothing ever seems to get the Amur Tiger too excited.

"The Amur tiger (Panthera tigris altaica) is also known as the Siberian, Manchurian, Altaic, Korean, North China or, Ussuri tiger. Size: Amur males are eight to 10.5 feet long, including a 3-foot tail; females are smaller than males at eight to 8.5 feet long. Males weigh 450 to 675 pounds; females weigh 200 to 350 pounds. Life Span: Estimated to be 10 to 15 years in the wild, tigers in captivity can live 16 to 22 years or more." (www.pittsburghzoo.com)

Using Aperture 3, I applied the brush tool to selectively define and add a bit of saturation to the tiger. I also painted the little red bird to the left with a bit more vibrance to bring it out a bit more.

Belles couleurs et lumières.

Hi Sandy,
A great capture of this wonderful cat! The colours look very natural to me, nice orange fur, great details of the cat, the whiskers perfectly sharp and that bird in the background is a bonus. A fine post my friend.

Hi Sandy,
What a superb portrait of this tiger adorned with fabulous lighting and accurate sharpness.
Very good details on features and the fur of the animal with splendid contrast!
I like the inclusion of the red bird, it enhances the composition.
Well seen and neatly presented.

Bonjour Sandy

Superbe photo de ce tigre avec de beaux détails!!
En prime, cet oiseau qui n'a peur de rien..
Bravo et TFS.Catherine

Very powerful shot! The sharpness and detail is amazing and the size and strength of this animal is well shown.

I can't help wishing you'd panned the camera a little more to the right, shifting the tiger's face a little more off-centre - the bird in the background is cute but actually ends up being a distraction rather than an enhancement, in my opinion, and would be removed by a shift in composition.

Good timing and composition.
Strong and respectable subject/s.
