A photo of my niece who turned two years old today!! Shot a couple of days ago in Melbourne where my brother and his family live.. You can see how much she's changed in those 2 years by having a look at her on her original birthday

RAW - little PP only, cropped and resized.. Taken with my 85mm prime at f1.4..

I see the ws and it's full of emotion... the birth is a strong and magic and UNIQUE moment in the life.
Lovely mood.

Lovely shot of your lovely niece David. What beautiful eyes she has!
This is really well done ... she's placed slightly off-center which is good, and the colors are really nice/true. Nice shallow DOF.
Happy Birthday Abi :)
Trudy

This is wonderful David! You are immediately drawn to her eyes! The colors are nice saturated! One of the best portraits I've seen on TL lately!

i showed both photos to my wife david!

for starters, she has mesmerizing eyes! the color of her eyes is wow!

then comes the lens' output... i have always admired the 85 1,4 on DX, and it shows here why!

on full frame, the lens, for me, loses all of its appeal..

with this photo, you have re-kindled in me the love for the 85 1.4... perhaps the new sigma should fill the bill!

thanks, i really enjoyed this one :)

hi David,

Great capture of those bright blue eyes, she looks like she's accustomed to the camera - should be, since the flash bulb's been popping ever since she could see.

She's got some Jessop eyes - I can see that from just the few times I have seen your face - and probably an affinity for real wide angles.

Have a wonderful week!

Hi David,
This is a nice portrait. The skin tone is just right, not magenta, nore green..just right. My only concern, would be under her right eye, which is a little blue next to a yellowish tone. It's a weird effect. To me it looks like a bruise. I'm just describing what I see, or how it looks to me, or is it plainly an illusion?...). Yet a wonderfull portrait. You do see that spark in her eyes, and those gorgeous lip..You sure have your personnel way to capture things..Well done.

This is awesome! Great clarity and perfect timing with the expression. Good use of the 85mm lens, composition is good.

Probably didn't need the aperture so wide open, but if it works ... it works!

Rew
:)

Love the catch light in her eyes.

Really nice portrait. A proud uncle Huh !!!

Colourful and full of joy image.
Great sharpness in the focused zone (at her eyes distance) and nice bokeh. That Nikkor lens is marvellous.
Simple and clever crop, well done.

Bonjour David,

I am usually very technical in my preference for picutres, and have a lot of admiration for building shot. But I can't resist a critique on such a lovely portrait. That 85mm lens is beautifull. Perfect perspective and DOF. A lovely "gradation" of tone. Of course, looking in his eyes, we can see that some fill light came from the left. The light ration is perfect for these young subject. Finally you captured a great expression with eyes telling a lot. Great portrait and TFS.

Alain

A W E S O M E DAVID!! This is so cute. I like her sweet little expression. Terrific choice with the blurry background. She looks like she is full of personality and ready to pop out of the screen! Lisa

A lovely photo of my pretty little granddaughter! She's rather a smasher, isn't she? I took a few pics of her last month and thought they were ok, but this is much better. I like the blurred BG, so she really stands out.

Boa tarde David

Wonderful eyes ( you have a similar look) and great colors. light---it is a very happy photo and she looks really great.
Oh when she was born I would tell she will be like this 8 i am kidding). The original photo is a very beautiful one too. You had a very clinical eye.
my regards

Hi David..nice shot..great tones and details. Excellent work.

Roger

man dude do you have a talent for inspirational portarits!!! Again you master the 85mili Nikkor!!! Goodness those eyes tell it all... makes me a-bit jealous I have not had kiddies as of yet! I'd hate to see me with a lil cutie such as this as me daughter!!! I'd spoil her terribly... be my #1 all of the time... how could you not say no to her!

All of this is conveyed in your foto of your niece... I mean you have captured her true spirit... a charmer for sure.. The dof is just perfect again as per the usual Capt. Jessop! I wonder what you might do with an old leica m and a basic 35mili set-up on your travels?

Cheers,

DM Brown
