I apologize for the lack of originality lately, but I do not have a studio to shoot various lovely models. The docks are my playing grounds most of the year. Still I opted to offer you a red one on this special day. Well this one is for the seafarers and the wives or girlfriends living away from each other most of the time.

The Canadian Operators Fednav International of Montreal are obviously very active on the Saint-Lawrence. But you may see their ships all over the world too. The MV Federal Fuji is a regular visitor in our ports. And I have boarded her many times in her twenty four years of service. Here she was discharging her load of alumina on a grey day.

Nothing fancy here. Post processing to the minimum . image uncropped. Whitened the whites a bit, slight correction of colors ( + or minus 5-10 % only ). Filtered with Neat Image . Resized and framed.

Have a lovely day with our without your Valentine love near you .
Cheers !

Hi Robert, the cranes look like out-stretched arms to me, reaching out for the loved one... nice one!, Thanx, M, (*_*)

Hello Robert,

A red ship is a dramatic image on a grey day, the reaching cranes adding to the effect. This is a lovely Valentine image, without a heart in sight.

Hey Robert!

You have endless photo opts with your occupation. I, personally, am very interested in seeing these photo as they are so different from what I can capture. This is what I like about TL.

This is very well composed, great focus and detail! What is not to like?

So, do you ever need an ice breaker to get the ship through the ice to the port?

A nice choice of red for the Valentine tribute!

Bonjour Robert,

Red for Valentine. But also red to brings contrast and saturation in a scene where other colors are dull and subtle. Good sharpness and DOF, nice balanced composition.

I lived 3 years in 3-R and I am in St-Étienne since 2 years now and I never tought Becancour had such an imporant "naval port". Of course Becancour has big industries so it's kind of normal it has such big installation. I don't know if general public has access, if so, there should be some nice pictures opportunities there.

Nice shot and TFS.

So much ice and snow - there's me thinking that Moscow was rather chilly during winter LOL..... Nice to see the red against the grim winter greyness... As always the black frame really accentuates the image

Hi Robert...wonderful tones as usual...what time of day do you shoot these kinds of shots?

Bonjour Robert,
Un joli garde-à-vous pour donner le ton à cette belle journée!
Les couleurs sont toujours aussi franches, particulièrement le rouge contre la grisaille. Bravo! Annie

Hello Robert,
Nice perspective given by the boat, broken by the orientation of the cranes. Nice red and yellow colours and the ice on the boat is impressive !
Kind regards

Hi Robert,
A nice Valentine present :-) Great how the red hull of the ship shows of against the cold ice. Great composition and all details of the cranes and bridge are nicely shown. Great shot and wonderful presentation!

Belle machine! Pas sur que Lise aurait aimé ça pour la St-Valentin! :-) Superbe image nette avec de beaux tons et de belles textures. Bravo!

Hi Robert!

Very interesting colour contrast! Nice composition and humour! Good picture for the Valentine Day!

The gray overcast skies set off a special mood here , the red of the hull appeals as the most showy color in this shot , how interesting to see those large ships loading or un-loading their cargo , i can never stop watching the action when given a chance to , well presented Robert , i like this very much ,

Hello Robert,

I would not mind visiting your playground for photo ops. This is skillfully composed and exposed. A high quality image. TFS.

Hello dear Robert!

WOW! I am dying to sail through the ice. I want to hear them breaking ahead of the vessel while the stem rack and the bulbous bow crack them with noise, though it must be very tough but must be great navigation experience.
The shot is very much sharp with vivid colors. Nice details and sharpness with lovely moment captured of this bulk carrier.

TFS, indeed beautiful shot!

Best Regards,
