today is a sad day. mehmood, known as mcmxcvii on treklens, has left us. he was assassinated while traveling from quetta to karachi.

mehmood was a fun guy and a very friendly person. although i knew him since 2006, i only got closer to him recently, when i sold my camera to him about two weeks ago.

just ten days ago, we were together for a night shoot. we were grabbing photo opportunities on the dark and stark streets of quetta city... then, to wrap up the night, we stopped at a road-side soup vendor :) i remember how he paid for the soup we had... that night belonged to mehmood as he ended up taking the best photos :)

like his father, he too was very keen about photography, and the best part was that he was not a regular gear-head, he was an excellent photographer. Creativity and innovative ideas were his natural gifts.

i am not going to make this note sound sad; simply because mehmood was a generous and joyful person... i will never forget that humble, genuine smile i used to see so often on his face...

in one of his latest photos, he wrote, "not that i hate winter, its just that i miss the long days of summer."...

his father, Muhammad Ali Musa, seemed shattered when i saw him outside the hospital this evening. i just want to say to him that his son will live in our hearts forever and that he should be so proud of having a son like mehmood... i mean mehmood was such a good human being that at times i wished i were like him.

i took this photo of him on Jan 29th 2010, we were all partying that night as i had just gotten my new camera...

may Allah give mehmood eternal peace and his family the courage and strength to move on. amen.

muhammad muhsin

Beyond the door,
There's peace I'm sure,
And I know there'll be no more
Tears in heaven...

Dear Mohsin,
Thank you very much for uploading the pleasant and smiling photo of Mehmood and you included my feelings and thoughts about our dearest friend in your note. Thanks.
While we were in Dubai, we had wonderful days there. He will be always alive in my heart. I am going to upload one of his memorial shots.
God bless tolerance to mehmood's family, friends and specially his father (mamcg).
May Allah rest him in peace and turn this world a hell for those who killed innocent people like him just for ethnic and religious basis.

Hi Muhammad,
It has been several weeks since you posted this photo and I apologize for waiting this long to leave a comment. I really didn’t know what to say at the time, sorry is only a word.

This is a very nice candid portrait of Mehmood. It is very pleasant and one that he should be remembered by, enjoying his hobby that we all share. Life had a terrible thing in store for him and I can only hope that he is at peace now.
