Dear colleagues today will provide a composition which is convinced it is a good opportunity for you to come with its own WS. This version, Personally, I like. It is a little more ... mysterious in this form.
But as each of us has different tastes and different vision ... I invite you to comment and express your own ideas and variations.

In this photo you can see both the old Danube as well as new Danube.

The Old Danube is an oxbow lake of the Danube in Vienna and this is no longer directly connected, but separated by a causeway. They are now divided into two parts which are interconnected. The Upper Old Danube extends from the Floridsdorfer Kagraner bridge to bridge, the Lower Danube from the Old Bridge to the Kagraner Praterbrücke.

In the early 18th Century, today's Old Danube after several devastating floods on the main branch of the Danube River (also known as Floridsdorfer arm). In the wake of a projected flood Donauregulierung (1870-75), the Old Danube was separated from the newly dug today's main stream, it has since become an inland water, covering an area of some 1.6 square kilometers and an average depth of 2.5 meters.

Today, the Old Danube is an important and popular suburban leisure and bathing area. Several public beach bathrooms are located on the banks, among other things, the Gänsehäufel. The Old Danube is well suited as a sailing area for beginners, but can through the surrounding high-rises (Danube City, Vienna International Center) partly occur treacherous winds.

The New Danube is an eastern tributary of the Danube in Vienna. It is designed as a relief for the flood waters. Between the New Danube and the main stream is located in Vienna's Danube Island.

The New Danube runs along a stretch of about 21 km parallel to the stream by the Vienna metropolitan area, from the diversion from the main stream in the municipality of Langenzersdorf in Lower Austria in the northwest and then through 21 District to the confluence with the main stream in the Danube Floodplain National Park in the 22nd District in the southeast. Where cover today the New Danube and Danube Island, was moved to Vienna in the first Donauregulierung 1868-1875, created flood plain, vast pastures, which was flooded at high tide. The left, the northern shores of the New Danube secures built until 1875 Hubertusdamm (Marchfeld protection dam).

Following the devastating floods of 1954, Wiener was after years of discussion, a new Danube-regulation plan, which foresaw the creation of a Entlastungsgerinne and the excavated an elongated island in the Danube. Construction began in 1972, until 1988 had been completed all the work.

At the beginning of the New Danube there is an intake structure called Guard, which is normally closed, what the New Danube makes it a stagnant waters. At high tide it is opened, thereby offloading the Danube and floods can be avoided. This usually has a permanent bathing prohibition, up to several weeks for the New Danube result, until the water has again bathing water quality. Other military installations are located just upstream of the Prater Bridge and at the height of the oil port Lobau approximately 1.5 kilometers off the mouth of the New Danube River into the main stream.

It has racing lines - in September 2009 will be held there, the World Rowing Masters - and a Wasserschilift. The best-known section of the shore is the bridge located in the Imperial Cup Cagrana. Private boats are not allowed on the New Danube.

Merhaba dear Adrian...
ne kadar güzel bir konpozisyon,,güzel bir şehirden güzel bir manzara, selamlar

Very impressive shot - where was your vantage point for this? It's a fantastic cityscape and great to see this famous river from such a perspective, as grimly industrial as it looks in that light and haze.

I have to agree with everyone else, this is taken from a great POV. The fog adds an interesting mood, but I would also like to see this on a sunny day. TFS

Hi Adrian,
Danube in the grip of
the fog looks very natural.
Fine POV creating a fine
curve in the motive. Lots
of details here in spite
of the fog. Sorry, out of
smileys today.
Have a nice week.

Hi Adrian!

Personally, I like the misty fog, but I have a simple mind for photography. I want so badly to take a foggy photo...one of these days. This is a very interesting body of water with great history. Thanks for the educational note! That vertical jump of yours just gets better. ;)

Hi, Adrian. Taking a photo under these lighting conditions is commendable. This is a beautiful composition, and a very creative idea. The photo is sharp, well composed and goes very well with the subject.Your note is very informative. Congratulations and thanks for sharing.

Greetings, you managed to show Vienna and the Danube in a way nobody would have composed any music about.Maybe Kurt Weill or Mahler. But it's a dramatic shot.Regards Otto.

Hi Adrian,

Great POV. This is a very nice picture and, indeed, the fog gradiant gives a mysterious ambiance to the scene. I also like the way you placed the Danube within it.

dear Adrian,
this foggy feeling is nice to show us both modern and old faces of Vienna,
the water of river Danube maybe not changed, but atmosphere is changing day by day, fog by fog...
I like old city of Vienna, but whole city is surely unreal city, like in this foggy view.
thank you,
Akihisa

Well thought out photo using a high POV to be looking down through the mist. This gives an unusual filtering effect.

Hello Adrian,

Excellent photo of beautiful Danube in foggy atmosphere.
Amazing POV and light.
