[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Taken at the Pittsburgh Zoo. "Young flamingos hatch with grey plumage, but adults range from light pink to bright red due to aqueous bacteria and beta carotene obtained from their food supply. A well-fed, healthy flamingo is more vibrantly coloured and thus a more desirable mate. A white or pale flamingo, however, is usually unhealthy or malnourished. Captive flamingos are a notable exception; many turn a pale pink as they are not fed carotene at levels comparable to the wild. This is changing as more zoos begin to add prawns and other supplements to the diets of their flamingos." (- Wikipedia)

Hi Sandy
I like this beautiful photo for its special and original cropping. wonderful results.
great composition and marvelous light on the flamingos enhancing beautiful tones.
gorgeous portrait of a bird.

Hi Sandy,
The title is clever and appropriate. Lighting is most impressive. The flamingo's eye appears like a button, the feathers are textured, and the colors are attractive. It has been weeks since I used my cam, and you just have given me an idea of visiting the local zoo...that is after TV's coverage of the U.S. Open tennis. Enjoy your weekend.

Hi Sandy,

nice focus on the flamingo eyes. good lights and shadow here. good details and the colors also. nicely done.

Hi sandy,
Very beautiful portrait ith excellent eye.TFS.

Great shot Sandy. I love the light and shadows falling across it's body, and the great detail in the body feathers, the beak and eye (what a beak!!!)
really well seen and taken.

Hi Sandy,

A wonderfully sharp closeup of the flamingo. The textures, shadows and colors are wonderful in this portrait. The dark bakground was perfect for this.

Hello Sandy,
excellent close up shot.
The sharpness and details are outstanding.
I liked the effect of light and shadows very much.
Its picture of the day.

Hi Sandy,
nice composition with nice light and shadow.
the colors are beautiful.

Extrema nitidez, extrema belleza...saludos

Wow Sandy, you truly pulled that one off , splendid ! A good note accompanies your photo , interesting to know about the captive flamingos' diet versus the ones in the wild affecting the pink coloration of their plumage , for one i'll go to sleep more learned tonight !
A little OE on top of the head though , a loss of details there but hey it is hard to avoid that sometimes under certain difficult conditions as here ,nevertheless it's so neat and sharp ,the BG is just perfect ,it's awesomely captured , tfs,
My regards,
