«Orient Station», designed by the architect Santiago Calatrava, was built in 1998 due to Expo 98, and nowadays is one of the most important railway stations in Lisboa.

The design of the «Orient Station» is based on concrete and white steel, with suggestive forms made in both materials. This building grows in lightness by each meter higher from the subway station to the railway one. From this Railway Station some steel and glass trees of 25 meters and 40 tons each one, grow to the top, showing a structure similar to a bot palm tree wood. (*)

To arrive by train to «Orient Station» is like to depart from «past» and arrive in the «future» in a short period of time…
So, please, come in, take your sits…
... and have a good trip to the future!

This is spooky Jose! Like a horror movie! Nice sharpness. Are there bad men lurking in the shadows? I like how you did this! Nice perspective!
B-)
Linda

Wow! Great shot of this station again Jose. Fantastic moody colors, great light, great vantage point. It feels as though at street level, it's leaning to the right, but at the bottom of the shot, it's level.
In any case it's a great shot, with the huge beams at the top, and the escalators at the bottom, all leading the eye right into the center of the shot. Great job Jose.
Trudy

Boa noite jose
Maybe ... it seems easy...these lines from the ceiling and from the ground converge in complete harmony. I believe that you you know how to look Calatrava and you help to see the gare in a must beautiful way. I really like Calatrava and your photo tells me why. Thanks
My regards
teresat

Hi Jose,
A nice artistic impression of this station, a few years ago I walked there too :-)
The green tone makes it very specia and creates a bit mystic mood. Fine posting Jose.
Hans

Nice shot! I like the mood and the perspective simply the best.

HiJose,
Another fantastic photo!
You have given a science-fiction and futurist mood at this station! I am sure that the cars are running on a high-speed moving pavement, more ecologistic than the traditionnal transport way. A pity, we don't can see it ! :))

Beautiful convergence of lines to the vanishing point.
Very well done! Annie

Well seen, Jose, this has a very fituristic feel to it and you've executed the shot nicely. Good tones and symmetry but maybe needs a slight rotation to the left? Regardless, this is a nice shot.

Different colors and unusual POV. This Sigma lens is great, hu? Unusual architecture picture.

hi Jose

A different but closer view from your previous post, and hehe, this time the tilt is CW :)

I am not sure if the pp work gives the blue/green tint or it comes from the skylight roof filtering but the effect gives a mood of scan slide.

Nice work.

Bom dia friend Jose.
The grass is always greener by neighbours, right ?
Well at this moment, mine's is greener. haha
I think the horizontal lines of the road are not in conjuction with the bottom part.
Maybe cos you didn't stayed exactly in the middle ?
Best wishes from Jan

Ola Jose!
It's very interiguing composition with gloomy atmosphere and unusal greenish tones. I like effect you achieved by PP work.

it must be a great futuristic ride, I love the mood in this shot as well, pretty intense and how the colors and patterns lead the eyes straight forward to the last point on the other side.. colors are Fab and the reflection of people on the ceiling is something else mixed with the green and yellowish tones! amazing and it keeps getter more amazing with every shot!
superb presentation..
all my compliments and regards Jose
suzy

Super architecture, Jose !
Very special green tint in it. Very symmetric, which could be even more if you had walked a bit to the right.
Useful note too.
TFS.

Ola Jose! Amazing vertical composition. Mysterious light and shadow. Perfect contrast. Original art work. Saude!

Ciao Josè. Quieta è la compiszione di un genio. Fantastica scelta cromatica per un atmosfera quasi surreale di grandissimo impatto.

Roberto

I really really hate myself when I accidentaly (never on purpose!) miss a photo of my dear friends. BUT...I am here now, I am on «Orient Station», looking...trying to get the right impression.

I was just talking to a friend of mine (who is architect) the other day (we were comparing the modern architecture and a bit older styles) and we have realized that in the 'good old times' people were more creative than today. In the present time all is consisted of straight lines, steel and concrete and glass construction...everything seems so 'sterile' and out of this planet. While in the past they paied more attention to the fine details, shapes...etc. Maybe it is also connected with the 'time'...people used to have more time to go into the details, while today...lack of time brings us lack of shapes.

BUT...to make long story short (and my critique as well)...another wonderful post dear Jose that brings the future a step closer to us.

Um grande abraço,

Stasa

Boa noite José,
Fotografia documental? Coisa nenhuma. Uma visão pessoal e nada animadora desse mundo de pressa, angústia e transitoriedade. Por mais que seja, também, "uma saudade de pedra", falta-lhe o mar.
Um abraço do
Raimundo

another superb work, Jose.. beautiful colour in dark.. remind me scene from a movie.. its so different.. good one..
