The photo of today is from «Uffizi Gallery», and was taken from «Ponte Vecchia»that crosses the Arno river.

The building of the palace was begun by Giorgio Vasari in 1560 for Cosimo I de' Medici as the offices for the Florentine magistrates — hence the name "uffizi" ("offices").

The internal courtyard is so long and narrow, and open to the Arno River at its far end through a Doric screen that articulates the space without blocking it, that architectural historians treat it as the first regularized streetscape of Europe.

The Palazzo degli Uffizi brought together under one roof the administrative offices, the Tribunal and the state archive (Archivio di Stato).

The project that was planned by Cosimo I, Grand Duke of Tuscany to arrange that prime works of art in the Medici collections on the piano nobile was effected by Francis I of Tuscany, who commissioned from Buontalenti the famous Tribuna degli Uffizi that united a selection of the outstanding masterpieces in the collection in an ensemble that was a star attraction of the Grand Tour.

Over the years, further parts of the palace evolved into a display place for many of the paintings and sculpture collected by the Medici family or commissioned by them. After the house of Medici was extinguished, the art treasures remained in Florence by terms of the famous Patto di famiglia negotiated by Anna Maria Lodovica, the last Medici heiress; it formed one of the first modern museums. The gallery had been open to visitors by request since the sixteenth century, and in 1765 it was officially opened to the public.

In 1993, a car bomb exploded in Via dei Georgofili and damaged parts of the palace, killing five people. The identity of the bomber or bombers are unknown, although it was almost certainly attributable to the Sicilian Mafia who were engaged in a period of terrorism at that time.

This is one of the most famous museums of paintings and sculpture in the world. Its collection of Primitive and Renaissance paintings comprises several universally acclaimed masterpieces of all time, including works by Giotto, Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Michelangelo and Caravaggio. German, Dutch and Flemish masters are also well represented with important works by Dürer, Rembrandt and Rubens (*).

Today the «Uffizi Gallery» is one of the most popular tourist attractions of Florence —waiting times can be up to five hours — so my advice is to reserve a ticket in advance by internet.

Bonjour José,

Que c'est joli, esthétiquement parlant, c'est parfait, jolie perspective d'une ligne fluide et continue, avec cet édifice qui se jette dans les eaux bleues et se perd dans ce joli ciel de la même couleur!!!

Boa noite dear Jose,

this image brings peace to my soul. The one thing I needed the most... Sense of freedom, serenity and infinity is very strong in this photo.

Endless blue sky, river that runs through it...it makes you to spread your wings and fly...away...to explore...to discover...What? maybe different dimension.

“There is a fifth dimension, beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition.”

I think I found it...in your image...5th dimension. You found it...clicked...and capture it forever.

Wonderful work. Lindíssima foto amigo. As cores, os efeitos na água, tudo perfeito.

Your colors are a really a feast for my eyes!
Exquisite deep bleu/green/cyan tones on the sky and Arno River!
Against this deep blue range, the golden facades and their subtle reflections make a strong visual impact. You are a great ambassador of this beautiful country!

Hello, Jose -
Amazing scene of Florence, one of the most wonderful places in the world. Perfect POV to let the eye follow the building along the river. Deep blues and warm sunlit colors. The wide angle provides a sense of broad space. Very well done.

HI Jose
The angle and the dof is awesome
The side lighting enhancing every arch and the reflection perfect.
Fantastic shot.

Olá José
Trying to avoid the redundancy is a difficult task with you.
Saying that this shot is perfect, is a mere exercise in style.

Let's put it in this way:
In an estetic approach, lets say that this picture will be used as a mnemonic...to a beauty thought.
Ps: p´lo workshop (precioso) :)

Beautiful picture nicely composed with and excellent POV. beautiful colors and sharp picture, Nice reflection and details ..very well done.
always the best, Jose...
best regards

Hi Jose,

Nice picture presenting this historical building. I don't know if you intension was to give it an old painting effect by keeping the colors dark green as we see sometime in old dutch painting. However if you want to present it as modern picture, it needs some color correction. I did a try in the included workshop. TFS.

Hi Jose,
Nice perpective an beautiful tone of colours,

Hi Jose

No comments, no words... I'm just just stunned by its beauty. A painting more than a foto.

Excellent, my friend, excellent

I think I was noticing this in a photo published on TE - a church in Ferrara - where the light had a peculiar quality, that of making me (the viewer) feel as if I were dreaming.
I cannot explain this very well, but what I meant is that by looking at the image, I know I am looking at something that, in a certain way, doesn't exist in reality - exactly like the light in your photo. it seems real, but it cannot be real - the greenish-yellow tinge, the golden cast... so it must be a dream, right?

Hi Jose, Good POV using the natural curve of this river as the key focus. The diminishing size of the riverside buildings looks good in this composition. The slight duskiness of many of your photos gives them a certain timelessness. TFS. Murray.

Hi jose

The river adds good linear perspective, & leads the eye deep back into the far distance. A little dark overall, but still with excellent shadow detail. Tfs!

Hi Jose...beautiful shot..wonderful perspective, light and tones...nice work.

Hi Jose,
Lets start with the composition: very very good !
The colors: super again.
It feels like there is a little bit too less contrast. But that is a matter of taste, ofcourse. In the way you made it, it has a special effect, and thats okay too.
And the architecture is great ! TFS.
The note is too much for me. :-)

Olá, meu grande mb!

Novamente, uma excelente composição com tons incríveis!
Os tons em azul e a luminosidade criaram uma atmosfera maravilhosa.
Ótimo tiro e belíssimo tratamento, meu caro.

Grande abraço do amigo brasileiro,

Ola Jose!
I love these colours and light! As always on your photos they are so expressive. The wide angle works great here. Firenze - beautiful, old city with specific inimitable atmosphere...
Best regards, Ewa

Olá José,
The blue tones look great here, it makes a very good effect on the photo. I like the POV and the composition that includes so much of the water. Good sharpness on the building, excellent job, my friend! tFS.

Very moody blues here. The curve and semi-diagonal help the composition. The touch of reflection is nice. TFS. Karin
