A couple of weeks ago I had a late meeting at work. Not so pleasant, maybe, but it had a nice side-effect... when I arrived at the train station, I noticed the sun casting its golden light on the rails and on the platform.

This really attracted me, so I grabbed my Oly, but I only managed to get 2 shots before the sun shifted and the reflection had gone. It's incredible how fast the light moves when the sun is setting...

Tech talk

Croppity-crop: quite a bit - and it was a hard decision to make as the original picture has a completely different composition...

Resized for TL in 5 steps, sharpened after the third one.

Cloned out some distracting red glares - I wondered where they came from anyway, I hadn't noticed them when I took the picture.

Boosted saturation to 140.

Added Frank's framing.

Hi there!
Wooo..this one is really attracted my eyes..love the way u cropped it,and also the framing!..And..about the light..an amazing mix of the nature and man made things...The sun ray just touching the metal..its like they kiss eachother:)...just beautiful!!I love it!!!A.

Wonderfully captured Frank! I am glad you had that late meeting at work!!!! The light in this photo is so beautiful that it's a true pleasure to be here looking at it! It's a very peaceful scene for a train station, definitely something that we are not used to seeing and it seems like time suddenly froze here.
Great work!!!
Congratulations Frank! This is a gem!!!

Ana

A stunning shot, Frank! Looks like an abandonned film set. Great compo and that little Oly sure measures the light right. Were the red glares simply lens flares? With a direct sun, that what I'm thinking. Great job!

Fantastic shot Frank! I like this gold color. Excellent lighting and colors. Your position was very fine too! Nice job!

I love the trail of the tracks, a good example of perspective. And I think you cropped it just right. I also like the clarity and the contrast - all the elements of a great photo. The lighting provides a very dramatic effect. Good job1

very cool Frank :-) fabulous perspective and that flash of gold somehow feels so inspirational.. you captured something really special from an everyday scene.. great job! ^_^

Ayda

Good luck beats good planning 9 times out of 10, Frank! The rails look on fire - almost molten metal from the reflection of the sun. I like the perspective with the wide expanse of platform balancing the rails. Well seen & captured, David

Very nice picture. It gives me a good feeling just looking at it. A nice way to start your day. A good thing you were in time to take this picture.

That's right, the speed of light. LOL
Excelent shot and well done on the composition.
A beauty, mon.

HI Frank,
beautiful shot with the golden tone and shining light, but specialy I love the diagonal lines of the railway and the train station and that there's nobody there!
Did you clonned them?? hahaha
Congrats.
Marisa

Beautiful composition Frank. I Like the light on this one. Beautiful framing. Very well done.

The details of the picture is so sharp!
You shurely use the max of potential for that reflection of golden ray... Soon in the morning?Nobodys there and the floors are cleans... :o)
Great shot!

the glow works very well in this beautifully captured image, you were right about upping the saturation.
Went to your profile, agree with what you said. But I'm extremely busy at the moment and do not like to comment just for the sake of... (*_*)

Great catch Frank. It has a deserted look and the setting sun has casts a great warm glow through the tunnel to a sparkle on the steel rail. A really lovely composition and the details are crisp and clear. Excellent image.

Très beau travail Franck! POV, netteté, composition..optimum:)
José A.

The perfect time of day for this Frank, did you plan this or just happen upon it?

You have turned a simple every day scene into a work of art Frank. Everything about this image is absolutely outstanding. I think everyone up to now has made that evident.
Congratulations! (2 Smilies)
Vassilis

HI Frank this is really a wonderful shot! The reflexes are gorgeous and you shot just at the right time of the day. Great capture. And, maybe that just my humble opinion, but the fact that the station was deserted gives a special mood for the scene. It makes one feels that is early morning rather than late evening...

Very, very well done!

Take care, Stef

This really is a wonderful shot. I like the diagonal composition of the railway lines. The golden sun and the shine on the tracks is just great. Nice shot Frank.

Great job!
Really perfectly technically simply amazing!...
Superb!

Nice shot, Frank !
Great use of perspective and lights on the rails. A very moody catch !
Sylvie

Good catch Frank ! Antwerpen-zuid ? What is reflected (apart from the sunrays) very good in this picture are the warm-cold contrasts in colour. The warm orange and green and the cold purple and blue tones.
I suppose you had some late phonecalls from all the mystery-people :-)
TFS, groetjes

Beautiful composition Frank, I like it a lot. A very nice perspective in it. I like also the light reflecting on the rail and on the deck, a very nice shot!
Best regards
Guy

Hi Frank

Excellent use of linear perspective, & with added bonus of the tunnel, appearing right at the vanishing point. Well done!

Wow Frank, should have seen this one earlier. What an extreem capture of light! Indeed, golden rays of light. I like the depth too, I makes the rays of light even look longer. Good sharpness to.
I like your "Croppity-crop" word, I use that more and more. It has a really funny sort of disney-sound to it.... one can hear, PP work is fun to do!
See you again, Richard

a lot of compliments from me to you ;)
this photo hypnotised me somehow...
this shiny railways track inwites to go home after hard work... I can feel that.
You catched really good moment of suns reflection.
TFS ;)
Onute

wow...speechless! you've caught a precious moment....to me it looks like the light is moving along the tracks......so surreal and dramatic! excellent work, Frank!

It is amazing what you can do with that camera of yours...
You really should try a DSLR!
This shot is perfect in every way... I love the mood you were able to catch!

Oho a very nice capture Frank. I like the way the rails lead into the top of the picture. However what I like the most is how everything on the left and right sides is plunged into dark blue shadows and the rails are the sunny way out. Cool shot.

La ligne (de chemin de fer), la lumiere et les couleurs tout me plait beaucoup dans cette imagequi présente de très bons équilibres autour de l'axe median.
Superbe.
Jean Michel

Very nice composition and colors are outstanding! TFS
Robert

Very appealing shot Frank. The lighting and the composition are excellent, and it's interesting how the beauty of the colour of the sun is contrasted against the grafitti on the platform.

WOW!
This is an extra-ordinary photo Frank. Maybe I should be late for meetings too if it means that I can get photos like that!
Very well captured. The colours & lighting are excelent. Such a warm golden colour.
Well done & TFS :)

This is a gorgeous picture. I love the warm colours of the sun setting, the glow on the railway, the compo and the definition.

Very well seen. Take care, Yan

Ik wist niet dat de plaats waar ik zo dikwijls sta zo fotogeniek was.

Toffe foto's Frank. Ik moet nog veel leren als ik dat allemaal lees bij u.

Tom

Great shot Franc. Well composed, wonderful perspective and lighting...
Tomasz

Het lijnenspel en het licht zijn erg mooi, goed gezien.

Pedro

Hello Frank,

Wow!! A very different sun raise/set photo. A very creative POV. Nice colors and composition. TFS.
