Dear friends,
another one of my shots of Blackfriars Railway Bridge.
This view is looking down from some stairs just nearby that links pedestrians from Thames walk to Blackfriars road bridge just next door (behind me here).

This is the rail bridge structure from the Westminster end and capturing the light streaks from a boat passing among the pillars. If you would like some more notes/info on these structures, please see the notes posted with an earlier shot of this bridge.

I feel I should add that this is not an HDR image.
While I agree that HDR images can be really stunning, I rather personally enjoy the challenge and opportunities presented using long exposures in lowlight conditions - ie capturing the shot in ONE exposure. As such I've never attempted an HDR image.

Anyway, here aperture is F/8 and shutter speed is 30 seconds. Machine is Sony R1.
Very minimal PP; Saturation boost, USM/contrast.
Thanks again for looking.

Olá Daniel,

Superb photo of this beautiful bridge you shot.

Fantastic colors, wonderful ligths, and the water effect are perfect,

Great capture!!!

Greetings from Portugal,

here's the maestro again with another masterpiece!
those red pillars are really eye-catching, Daniel. they pop up so perfectly against the evening colours and again, i like the way you smoothened the water through the slow shutter speed. a very lovely image, my friend.

hi daniel, wonderful colors and excellent exposure, your images are always so sharp too!
very nice work on this its very good, i agree all of the PP work people do is fun and looks neat but for me its usally just like shooting slides-get it right in camera!

Hello, Daniel!!

Sua foto está sensacional!! Excelente nitidez,
cores belíssimas, e belo POV.
Congratulations ans many thanks for sharing!!

Brazilian greetings,

Hello Daniel,
Excellent railway station and bridge.
Very beautiful diagonal composition and details. TFS,

At the risk of sounding repetitive....
Once again...an excellent, clearly focus, properly exposed long exposure from you. In my mind, your probably the best on TL at this. Most people don't realize but taking this photo in low-light conditions presents many problems such as getting a good composition. Hard to control a photo's composition after you take it because looking into the viewfinder is fruitless, it's often completely black! With landscapes like this, you want to stay away from PP cropping because it cuts into the subject and you lose alot of your wide angle. Anyway, wonderful shot. Please stick with these type of shots, I like HDR's but these are pretty special!

Still churning out fantastic low light shots I see, and this is no exception!!!
The orange glow on the water under the bridge is gorgeous as is the compositon and dof and everything else I see here. Well done mate, i'll try and catch up on your last few months worth of posts when I get a minute.

Hi Daniel.Beautiful light and colour.
Best regards, Bosko.

your technique about long exposure and how to take a bridge at the blue hour is excellent and should be an example to all photographers who would like to do this kind of photo

Hello Daniel,

I just gasp at the 'smoothness' of this shot! I know that is an unusual word to use but, to me, it fits it so well.
Excellent pov to give a lead-in to the walkway and a second one under the the arch of the bridge.
Wonderful composition.

My friend, you are the master of 'Night Photography'!

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Greetings from Poland :)

What a superb shot!
I love the end finish here.
The water surface looks so polished, as if it was an ice skating-rink.

Superbly clean sky, good saturation and most extensive sharpness on the red pillars.

Overall, I love it! :)

Very good and effecitive low light/long exposure work as always.
The bridge is great, the water wonderful, the far shore a bit distracting compared to many of your other tight compositions but still a technical wonder.
good work.

Hi Daniel
Perfect colour and composition

HI Daniel...your shot is fantastic...I agree about HDR..that technique seems interesting but I get quickly tired of the look....and I find that with some effort the normal shot can look as good...Your long exposure shot is really amazing...how dark is it when you take the picture? I assume it must be almost completely dark...if you get a chance let me know...

i like this POV better than your previous one of the same place, Daniel.. the red contrasts are just amazing and so are the river.. excellent job.. tfs..

regards, terry

Your understanding of exposure and shutter speeds to get images like this , makes the use of HDR look like a imitation, Daniel. Your ability to compose and shot these difficult shots continues to amaze and impresse me. Excellent as always.

Hello Daniel,
WOW! Large and more spectacularly clear photo. Class a photo, with fantastic colors and Light.

Excellent shot my friend!Nice night photo!

Hi Daniël,

A good thing you have included in your note that this is not HDR PP work, but low light and long exposure.
Of course it helps that you have such wonderful places to make pictures like this.
The remains/pillars of the old railroad bridge work great to add even more colour to this already colourful composition.
Great job, a joy to see,

Perfect exposure!Good perspective with vivid colours!Well done!

Such a gorgeous set of colors in this image Daniel.
As usual your attention to detail and precision is masterful.
I love the light reflection on the water.
Great work.

Thanks for your detailed explanation.
Yes, I like the long exposure method works well on most days if you have a tripod along.
Nice reds and blues. Extremely crisp. The angle of the bridge is great, leading the eye beyond. May I ask 2 questions please. Do you choose your exposure time via experience or via camera reading? And once you have downsized to 800 pixels, what are your sharpening parameters please. Thanks in advance Daniel. TFS. Karin

Hello Daniel,
Very intense red here. Even the clouds seem to reflect it. I like the smooth effect on the water and totally agree with you regarding DHR and long exposures. TFS

Hi Daniel

Yet again you have produced another stunning image, this one seems to have slightly more lilac hues to the sky than others and I very much like that. Again a well balanced shot with fantastic detail... I think its well past time you had a gallery in London displaying these shots (if you havent already) they really are superb,
