...in Veere. One of the few sunny days we've had this summer in the Low Lands... Of course Ann, Dingo (the dog) and me hurried towards Zeeland to visit a couple of towns and cities we didn't get to discover before.

One of the pleasant surprises we had was Veere. A cosy, for tourists very interesting place with a nice yachting harbour, a very large lake and some beautiful buildings.

I spotted the windmill when I was walking along the quay, and I immediately liked this compo that includes some of the flowers in a garden in front of one of the houses.

Tech talk

In-camera compo with a smaller aperture to get a large DoF.

As usual, adjustment layers for levels and curves. Then I decided to leave out the curves layer. Just a slight tweak in levels, completed with a wee bit of shadows (0) and Highlights(10).
Photographing a white subject in a mixed colour environment and bright sunlight is prone to get you some overexposure...

Very beautiful with all these flowers!! A very summerly photo! Today it was a good day too, so did you go anywhere????

I would cropp it a little bit more at the top. But thats my opinion....:)

Well done, Frank. Mooi gedaan!

Pracht inzending Frank, echt genieten!

Hi, I was just reading your intro. which I found very interesting and helpful as well. I agree with so much of what you've said. A very beautiful scene today. Nice composition with the flowers in the fg. The lighting and colors are excellent and the trees frame the windmill nicely. When I see pictures like this it really makes me wish I was right there. TFS and have a happy day!

Mijn idee ...

Hi Frank,
Fabulous view from the garden, a real gift to a photographer... You framed the windmill excellently with the flowers and trees, the composition's eye-catching. Beside it, everything's sharp, colours are nice and the exposure is the most proper possible. I'm a little surprised this superb photo only deserved a handful of comments. I like the image very much, congratulations and thanks for sharing.
Best regards, Lszl
