[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
There are places where we take photos for no special reason…, only because… These places to the first sight have nothing special.

However, it happens some times that, when we look to the photos of those same places passed a few time we find that the «unknown reason» that motivated us to that taking of photos was, after all, the «true spirit» of the place (city, country, village, whatever…)… and, blinded at the moment for that «nothing special», we simply had no name for it.

It was what happened to me with this photo on which I only know that was taken in Dublin, Ireland, in April 2008.

I dedicate this photo to the U2 song «Where the Streets Have No Name».

Good morning Jose
I love the deep dof, the dark skies adding to the composition and the people in the daily life against those buldings a great addition. Turning it into a sepia does give the shot a look of yesteryear.
Well done

Fabulous diagonal lines and perspective here Jose.
Excellent conversion and tones, it's very dreamy.

Hi Jose,

i really love the mood here,
superb work my friend,
welldone and tfs,

Ola Jose

As vezes eu sinto isso tambem!
No centro de minha cidade, hoje não tão movimentado
como nos aureos tempos do Café, as construções
antigas me levam a Nostalgia, a olhar para aquelas ruas desertas de outra forma.
Rua pequenas e estreitas aqui!
Um bonito visual neste sépia.

hi Jose

The B&W makes it look like going down memory lane and you have given it a good title for this street view.

I wonder, do you shoot with a title in mind? I usually have no idea of a title until just before posting.

A street portrait Jose given with excellend mood.
The b&w offers to the splendit atmosphere ,the Irish one, which is so unique.
The POV is superb. Shot is full of life and calmness. It's like a scenery of a film.
I like very much your work, I think that this shot is of the best b&w of yours.
My compliments friend.
best regards Argyris

Hello Jose,

I like the effect you put in the sky, the sepia accentuates the "memory" mood you're capturing. It's true, some of the most banal and mundane situations can elicit a flood of memories that rush to one's mind. Even though I don't have that effect directly from your photo, just thinking of the concept does this. Although I have to admit, any time I see photos of Dublin, there is a flood of memories I cherish.

Kind regards,

Ola Jose! Wonderful picture. Nice light and bright. Good POV and capture. Very interesting composition. Saude! Boa viagem!

Bonjour Jose,

Nice note too.
very well done.

Moody and dark looking..... looks like it could be long ago!

Delightful tones your conversion created Jose. The detail is superb and the image nicely captured in teh vertical format,

intresting historical looking buildings and a very busy street.the b&w looks great. makes the sky look like a storm is coming.

Hi Jose,

I love reading your note . . You are right . . sometime there is a time for taking picture without any clear reason, but wanting to shoot . . and keep it for a while . . and later will become a memorable image . .

Very interesting and effective composition; it at once has a modern as well as "old time" feel to it.
Very nice sharpness and DoF too.
The sepia treatment and other post work compliment the photo completely.
Nice work,
Thanks for sharing,

"I wanna run, I want to hide
I wanna tear down the walls
That hold me inside.
I wanna reach out
And touch the flame
Where the streets have no name.

I wanna feel sunlight on my face.
I see the dust-cloud
Disappear without a trace.
I wanna take shelter
From the poison rain
Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name.

We're still building and burning down love
Burning down love.
And when I go there
I go there with you
(It's all I can do).

The city's a flood, and our love turns to rust.
We're beaten and blown by the wind
Trampled in dust.
I'll show you a place
High on a desert plain
Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name.

We're still building and burning down love
Burning down love.
And when I go there
I go there with you
(It's all I can do)."

Great shot and great song, Jose! Besides Dream Theater, I'm a huge U2 fan, too! :) Just couldn't help it with the lyrics...

Hi Jose,
Beautiful vertical presentation of this busy narrow street.
Wonderfully moody somber image with a nice sence of urgency from the busy pedestrians.
The black and white treatment and the stormy sky give this image a timeless feel.
Regards, Tom

Good morning Jose,
I'm thinking you had a great time on your visit to Dublin.
Turning this shot into a sepia really gives it a look of yesteryear and is so effective.
The contrast and tone are great.
Well done, my friend.

Ola Jose.
Wel, it still is a picture many of us will remember after seeing it.
It sure has something special.
The 'old' colours works very well for it.
Best wishes from Jan

Hi José,

The perpestive works great in this picture and the sepia gives it that timeless feeling - to get an even better atmosphere I tried to clone out cars and some people in a WS.
