"Because I have loved life, I shall have no sorrow to die."

Friends my dear grandmother left us this monday morning to her final destination. Ninety years of her journey, full of energy, Sprituality, always ready to help poors. She was an institution for me, I have learnt "Gita", "Ramayana" and panchtantra stories from her.
She told me what is good and what is bad.
She was a proud mother of six childern, my father is the youngest one.
Most of her life was happy, untill she lost her husband 12 years ago. he was an army officer. i have discussed sad part of her life in my previous photograph Lonely Eyes and My Grandma
i have heard that if you are attached with someone emotionaly you can feel and sense her depart. that has happened with me. My grandmother left her body at 4am on monday and from sunday night I was restless, i knew that something is going to happen.
People do not die for us immediately, but remain bathed in a sort of aura of life which bears no relation to true immortality but through which they continue to occupy our thoughts in the same way as when they were alive. It is as though they were traveling abroad.

Her Departure is a big loss to me. i was her faviourte grandson. I have lost the most cheerful, funloving, encouraging and supportive person of my life.I love you Dadi Maa.

What is—"Paradise"—
Who live there—
Are they "Farmers"—
Do they "hoe"—
Do they know that this is "Amherst"—
And that I—am coming—too—

A tribute my Grandmaa

I am sorry for your loss. May you find consolation from remembering the joy you gave to her and the love your received from her.

She looks a fine lady with character and love showing in her face

It was really so sad when someone has to go away....and leave us forever....
It shows in your photo how dedicated you are,she looks cool with her expressive happy eyes...perhaps she is funny when she was still alive. Our consolation perhaps is the memories that she left us....

Hello my dear friend,
i would like to express my condolences to you and all of your family....
and perfect choice in memory of her,
thank you my friend for sharing your sweet grandmother and her memories with us,

I believe we do not die really; we only go to another dimension of life. Your grand mother changed herself to a place where, some day, you and all the persons will stay and leave.

I hope some day to meet your grand mother in this place. Then, I will say to her: "I love you".

Receive a kiss in your heart.

Your brazilian friend,

:) I'll be back on monday

Hi Manuj, A well percieved portrait, one which you will never forget. Such pleasant memories mentioned in your words. Colourfuul and well presented. TFS. Murray.

A great lost for all your family Manuj. I always see this portrait, but only now I visit. My condolence even though I'm a bit late.

Hi Manuj!

You have a lot of wonderful shots in your gallery. Some very graphic, some more touching with their humanity. I like this one very much because it's a so unusual vision of an elderly person! Most of the pictures of holi show young excited people, full of energy, and we forget a bit that this is for everyone! I love this unconventional approach, and the large smile of the woman, who seems to be so happy, is really touching. She looks fragile but re-energetised with all these colors. A great capture!

PS: That's only now that I read your note. Your picture becomes even stronger and I understand so well what you have felt! My relation with my grandma was strong; and as if it was to difficult to leave when I was near, she left when I was travelling to India! I got the news with two months delay by a phone call in Kerala. My heart was in pieces. I was in trouble to find a public phone in the city where I was and had asked some help to a young woman in the street. She accompanied me to the place and even waited I finish my phone call. When she saw me crying, she was puzzled. But the funny thing is that I she was named : Shanti... and finally, she really helped me to find peace in my heart!
Thanks to have shared your story!

Nice dedication, Sorry for your loss, hope you'll be strong!
I understand you because my grandmother gave me the same spiritual lecons of the live!
Sure she'll be well in the "paradise"

Hi Manuj,
Looking at some of your work I came accross this one, and I saw the note, and the image became more significant.
I've had the change to know my 2 great grant mothers and be old enough to remeinber them.
My grand mother die in 2003 at the age of 94.

She's probably the most influencial person in my life.

My condolences. This is a beautiful portrait of her, we are part child all our life, even grown up. May she rest in peace.
