Repetition of snow-capped peaks and also the blue colour in the sky and water.

My husband and I have been on holiday down the South Island of NZ.

It is autumn here in NZ and while the North Island had severe storms and floods all week we celebrated such wonderful weather down south – coolish but so refreshing and with lovely sunny days. . . And we got to see some snow.

Mt Cook (just left of centre) is NZ tallest mountain is 3,754 metres high.

The road to Mt Cook runs alongside Lake Pukaki. The lake is bright, it's clear and it's brilliant, and the colours here are real.

The turquoise colour seems like magic but, really it's just a product of 'rock flour' or sediment in the water from glaciers rubbing the basin of the lake as they drift past. The sediment reflects the brilliance of the sun, hence outstanding clear colour.

It looked particularly pretty on the hot clear day we visited it.

You can see Mt Cook standing tall behind Lake Pukaki and all the surrounding impressive snow-capped peaks.

I have a few more (hundred) photos to share with you in the coming months!! We had a superb time away - we were very impressed with the landscape of the South Island.

Welcome back Janice and pleased to hear that your weather was far better than up this way!! Fantastic South Island view with the rich blue waters of the Lake and misty mountains beyond. Great light. Looking forward to seeing more of these! Congratulations! Pat.

Hi Janice,
Very serene view on these remote mountains! The luminous blue is wonderful!
Here, it is Spring time! After the hardest winter that we saw for a long time! I hope that you will see snow, but I don't wish for you any as much as in Quebec!
Best regards! Annie

Hiya Janice, hey welcome back I hope you had a nice break

sorry it took so long to get round to you, so many fantastic shots in the theme this week and I try and work through in order,,, this however is absolutely beautiful. I love the colours and that water is just the most amazing blue.

TFS and for joining in the theme

Kind regards Helen

Just beautiful Janice, wants me to investigate a tour to the nearest peaks when our white stuff arrives. Lovely band of Autumn colour forming the bottom of the frame and such a range of blues. A soft light and a perfect POV. TFS,

Many thanks for your comment on ‘Four Repetitions’

I'm always attracted to scenery shots like this, Janice... in particular because of the similar shapes in the foreground and in the backdrop, where the water breaks them up very nicely. Great blue hues all around.
Nice work, Janice. TFS
