Sunday Easter fishermen in the beach of «S. Martinho of Porto Bay».

Despite the name Porto, «S. Martinho of Porto» is not in the North of the country (where is Porto city), but in the Center/West of Portugal, between «Óbidos Lagoon» and «Nazareth», near 100 km of Lisbon.

«S. Martinho of Porto» is very pretty beach with the sea taking a shell form making a natural bay and a natural «marina». This beach is much looked by families with kids because that natural bay, has very insurance for kids.

A litlle peace of history:
In the part North of the bay of «S. Martinho...», in a small village called «Salir of Porto», has notice of a great battle between the troops of the Invading Roman Empire and the tribe of «Lusitanos» (ancestor of Portuguese people) commanded by their leader Viriato.
Viriato and his «Lusitanos» never was defeated for the Roman Empire in batlle. The Romans only killed Viriato through the treason of one of its that poisoned him at home.
However the «Lusitanos» still resisted from many, many years for shame and to humiliation of the proud Roman Empire.

Hi Jose!
Amazing anglers. Wonderful point of view. Good light and shadow. Original take.

A very peaceful image, excellent choice of b&w to enhance the "timeless" atmosphere that the bay holds! Fishermen are quiet, calm, meticulous, patient...you've captured all of this in one shot and even more! Congratulations!
P.S. Same appology about the points...See you tomorrow!

I love how much mood there is in this shot Jose,
Especilaly for a beach scene.
Great sepia tones with a superb POV.
Well done!

Fica bem,

hi jose.
the dark silhouettes vs the bright sea, the footmarks on the sand, the diagonal lines in the bg - all this elements are making the compo very intersting and moody.
beautiful color tone too.
very well done, congrats.

You snuck this one in while I was away, Jose, but I found it. I am a big fan of the sepia tones and using it here was a great idea. I love the way the rods and lines make such great angles, with the light hitting just right for us to see them. Being able to see just the hint of the plaid in the jacket of the man in the foreground, makes it so interesting. Great composition and wonderful posting.
Warm Regards

hi jose',
I know it's been a while since you posted this photo, but beacause it shows something I can't see very often here in Holland (the fishermen on the beach) I instantly went to open it. I think it's a magnificent photo - the long, almost empty beach, the lonely fishermen scattered here and there, the different dark tones and shades, and the majestic curve of the water.
truly a picture you can watch over and over again.

Bonjour Jose,

I like this image because of its simplicity. Even if there only few elements there is a lot of information and a story around it. Composition is balanced and the high contrast minimize our attention from unsignificante detail to concentrate us on the activity made by the subject. Nice picture and TFS.

Belle composition en n& b, j'aime beaucoup le premier plan et le regard glisse ensuite vers les autres silhouettes de pêcheurs.
