This is a very special picture as lightning and exposure might have been difficult to control. Use of flash worked well and made colors stand out very nicely. This is very particular and unusual. Well seen and well done :)!

A very good effort, however your model is the subject, not the background.
In this case you needed a reflector to bounce the subtle very nice tones of the sun to your subject.
And NO, a flash would ruin this awesome moment, your subject would look harsh even if you set the flash as a fill, the flash would create awful catch lights in the eyes, the reflector would be the way to go.
Moving to the right to hide the sun behind the model would make the sun act as a kicker light, then metering the light bounced to your subject.
